Private Parking Charge Notice at Ocean Parking, Chatham

Hello everyone, hope you have a lovely Christmas. I am looking for help with my parking charge. It is my own fault but just seeing if there's any way I can get away without having to pay £100 or if it is possible to pay the discounted £60 at this point.
Here's more details - I went to help my friend to jump start their car as it had a flat battery. I was there for a whole of 12 mins and it turned out to be a private parking. I received the post about the charge on the 14th day, late but still under the 14 day limit. I did't have enough time to contemplate if it's worth paying. I have been trying to chase the parking lot owner (a local letting/development) but no luck due to holidays I assume.
Are there any grounds to appeal here? Like because it's a short period. Or a mitigating circumstances of car bread down. Or that there was no way to pay even if I wanted to at that moment. (No pay machines and you have go through the application process)
I apologise if I have made any mistakes or not followed the rules on the forum. I came across a post from 2013 but that looked outdated.
Thank you.

It is not your fault, you have done nothing wrong. Your central point is - you were not parking. That is your defence and you should argue that all the way to the end. Don't give in to this scam industry and their fake tickets.Start with the Newbies thread, there you will learn that appeals are almost always rejected and that you can then appeal to a fake trade association which will probably be a farce. Thereafter you ignore everything until a proper letter of claim arrives.

Nope, we never link the NEWBIES Thread because it's an Announcement stuck to the top of this board...
...and there's already a link back to page one at the top of every page.
As my signature already tells everyone.

heymclovin said:Thanks for your response. What do you do after the letter of claim arrives? Surely the charge is going to be much more and I don't want to deal with debt collectors. The answer to this is in the newbies thread, but in short you don't deal with debt collectors, you ignore them they are totally powerless without a Court order. That is why you wait. I've done exactly that myself and now have a Court date next month where, assuming they paid the trial fee before Christmas and don't discontinue, I fully expect to win.If you get to the letter of claim stage we can help. I have already noted that you did not "park" and there is case law to help if need be.In the meantime find Plan A and complain like hell
