Mornings are alway better after the first coffee.Despite my very best intentions the planned cake wasn't made. I looked up the recipe and ended up down the rabbit hole of other recipes. Some were tantalising, some not so but all very interesting. The trip to the tip was quick and uneventful. A delivery of leftovers was very welcome, the soup has gone into my freezer and I ate half the chicken pie for lunch. What I had planned can wait.Today I'm going up to Oban for some food shopping, halfway up I will pick up an old friend who is currently car-less because of an accident. His wife will stay home as she's not too well. We'll whizz through Marks and Tesco. I only really need veggies though I'm sure other stuff will get added. 😀
Ruby - I imagine that you're slowly recovering, moving gently, letting others look after you and enjoying the peace and quiet.Taff - more huge thanks for the Christmassy tunes. 🙏
Nelski - do you still keep in touch with Holly? She often pops into my mind.I hope that everyone is doing well and keeping warm. Happy Thursday to all. 😎11 -
Good morning, thanks for starting Gers.Funny that you should mention Holly, I was just thinking about her yesterday. We went to Arg8s again yesterday to pick up a new shoe rack, the one we had was a bit rickety, and if you ;looked at it the wrong way shoes cascaded off, so we finally bought another. This one seems to be steady, and it's giving a pleasant smell of new wood to the little room where we hang coats and keep shoes..I've done a lot of tidying of drawers and cupboards over the last few days, so there's a few things to go to the tip and the charity shop. There's more to do though. I quite like the process of sorting, tidying and rearranging. It doesn't seem as cold today, I was about to say I might go to the library, but then remembered it's closed till after New Year. This week between Christmas and New Year is a strange one I always think, there's a sense of waiting for something to be completed.Ruby, I hope you're resting, also thoughts to others who aren't well.Take care folks.11

Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers, I know what you mean about the rabbit hole of recipes, I spend far too much time looking and then run out of 'doing' time! Lovely to have your food delivered to you.
Well done on the tidying Scarlet, I really must sort out and clean the cutlery drawer but that can wait until my visitors have gone home. They are currently in Edinburgh, met up with friends yesterday and stayed overnight. They will be back this afternoon to pack up, their flight is at 6.05 tomorrow morning so it'll be an early start. I'll drop them off and then go back to bed.
The house is fairly clean and tidy to say there have been so many folk here over the past week, I spent yesterday afternoon suitably slumped on the sofa watching the TV and thoroughly enjoyed it!
Hope you're still resting Ruby and recovering well.
Are you better now Mehefin?
Thinking of Poppy, Holly and Marie.
Hope you all have a good day, thankfully it's recycling bin day today, it's stuffed to the lid.
Take care. XX10 -

Hi everyone,
I didn't post yesterday, we went out early to see Crystal and Nate (Chris was at work). I then ended up having an early night because I'd been up with Laura and Esther and only got about 4 hours sleep on Monday night. Unfortunately I've now been awake since 5.00, I can't win.
Nate is becoming a real little person and hopefully is growing out of his stomach problems, Crystal seems to be relaxing a bit now he isn't so tiny and vulnerable. Chris has had his 3 months sabbatical signed off for May, June and July so they are looking forward to having that time as a family before Crystal has to go back to work in August.
I made the turkey biriani we usually have on boxing day last night, it was as delicious as usual, a bit fafy to make but definitely my favourite way of using up left-over turkey. Laura bought a duck crown in M and S half-price so we will probably have that tonight, then they go to the Yorkshire house for a week to have New Year with Brian's youngest brother (nearly 20 years younger) and some friends. We'll try to eat as healthily as we can while they are away and try to lose the few pounds we've put on over Christmas. Fingers crossed my stomach seems to be ok at the moment but I'm still waiting for the ultrasound appointment the Dr referred me for.
Hugs for all those in need.
Have a good day.11 -
Morning all and thanks for the thread @Gers x
WFH yesterday was uneventful, just a couple of IT issues to sort. Another quiet day today I'd imagine. I have a pile of ironing that I will do, in between wiggling the mouse and looking out for emails. I have the POA paperwork to finalise today and then will send recorded or signed for, depending on what the Post Office suggest. I lost a parcel (a gift for some friends) with Evri despite it being fully tracked, so I'm definitely sending this one with the PO.
Just DH and I for dinner tonight. The turkey and ham were used up in a pie yesterday - DH made it with cream and butter so doubt I'll lose any weight this week! Still a mountain of chocolate and cheese to wade through too. Might do fish for dinner as fancy something lighter.
I too often think of Holly and wonder how she's doing. I also was thinking of dumpling's family - their second Christmas without her, and she so loved Christmas.
Glad Nate is settling @snoozer and your plans for NY sound fab. We are going to a friends house and he's making a chilli. Will look forward to that.
Have a good day everyone,

In my past life exam papers were sent out recorded and the post person mostly never did it - in fact we made money back because the wee strip on the stick on sheet was almost always still intact so we could claim the fee back. Perhaps things have changed, however I'd still recommend the Special Delivery service, expensive but reassuring. And I'm sure that you know to make a copy or a scan first.Yes, Dumpling is always at the back of my mind too. And I miss so many of the living but disappeared from here folks.Snoozer - I hope that you can catch up on sleep tonight. We've just had a very noisy and heavy hail shower. Someone is out shooting geese (I guess) or ducks, think that they got eight before stopping. I've got a quick dark wash on the go which I'll hang upstairs before going out into the gloom.

Morning! More rain but hopefully not al at once today. I'm back today, have an engagement meal tonight to go to.. They all mash up together into limbo...。❅*⋆⍋*∞*。*∞*⍋⋆*❅。In the bleak midwinter。❅*⋆⍋*∞*。*∞*⍋⋆*❅。
Frosty wind made moan
Earth stood hard as iron
Water like a stone
Snow had fallen
Snow on snow on snow
In the bleak midwinter
Long, long ago
Angels and Arc Angels
May have traveled there
Cherubim and Seraphim
Thronged the air
But only his Mother
In her maiden bliss
Worshiped the beloved
With a kiss

Morning
Not had the best of Christmases here. Felt unwell most of the time and no appetite Fridge still full so need to try and manoeuvre it all to the freezer. Going to have to have my own holiday just to eat this lot!
Haven't heard from Holly for years ...sorry
Really not a lover of News Year eve so I'll be heading to bed after hopefully a nice meal.
I hope to be a bit jollier tomorrow miserable posts are not really my style10 -
Morning all, it's fine at the moment after very heavy rain through the night. We are off to see eldest nephew and his wife in Leeds for lunch today, hope the M62 isn't too bad. Our friends were very pleased to see us yesterday,( and we made it up their lane Gers
) They don't go out much as she has social anxiety, he has health problems, but tend to rely on people visiting them - can't remember the last time they came here
. Anyway we stayed for a couple of hours catching up & came home for tea using some of the gammon up.
Izzy I had exactly the same thought when I saw the weather for NYE !I think this time of year does make you think of people who used to post regularly like DDumpling and Money Saving Diva. I still have a pm Xmas greeting from Diva and I can't bring myself to delete it. I suppose some people just stop posting through family changes ,illness. jobs and other things through lack of time. If it's helped them to post at the time then that's a good thing. Thinking of them all x
Taff, it feels like bleak mid winter, so darkThanks for your sterling efforts!
RR hope you are feeling a bit better.Right better go and get ready! Hope you all have a good day x
