Hidden Cat B?
Comments

All three vins and the engine number check out.
MY guess are either:
1) Insurance company keying error
2) Fraudulent insurance claim by previous owner using photos from the CAT S accident in Feb - would an insurance company allow this without inspecting/disposing of the 'wreck' themselves?
3) Could a clone have been scrapped?!
Pretty sure there has not been a second more serious accident in the 25 miles driven between the Feb accident (and appearing on a salvage website on 18th April) and purchase in June that has then been repaired to the point of not being visible.I think....0 -
Perhaps talk to the MIB see if they can and will give you some assistance.

Thanks. MIB will contact the insurance company that placed the marker and get back to me. No idea how long the process will take and what recourse I have if it is an error or fraud. Marker was not on when I purchased the car so no idea if the seller would be responsible?Flight3287462 said:Perhaps talk to the MIB see if they can and will give you some assistance.I think....0 -
How can the seller possibly be responsible if the Cat B refers to the original accident but was not applied until after they sold it ?michaels said:

In any case if the owner has been up to no good you are likely to get an unprovable !!!!!! and bull story0 -
Always do a vcheck before buying a car. An unrecorded accident damaged car won't appear on an HPI report but will on a vcheck report if it's gone through a salvage auction.0

Thanks. Had done vcheck and it showed salvage auction corresponding to the cat S damage I knew about.GenieBoy said:Always do a vcheck before buying a car. An unrecorded accident damaged car won't appear on an HPI report but will on a vcheck report if it's gone through a salvage auction.
MIB seem to think it may not be insurance cat B but reported as scrapped to DVLA (as noted above, after I had purchased it).
Experian are contacting DVLA to hopefully have this removed - might I need to get a VIC check to prove the condition?I think....0
