Thank you for the cuppa @Cherryfudge and for using my insulated mug, so that it stays warm for hours.
@Laura_Elsewhere - good point about getting up and moving around. Unfortunately, the only thing that seems to make a difference is a hot drink. I know menopausal oestrogen withdrawal affects the temperature centre in your brain (hence the infamous hot flushes), but nobody ever talks about the cold ones. Even my female GP looked surprised when I mentioned them*.

* Yes, my thyroid bloods are in normal range. That's the first thing she looked at. I'm hypothyroid anyway and have been on thyroxin for years, but I've been stable for at least 18 of those years."Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'

Ooh, ooh, can we do the Teddy Bears' Picnic after that?
@PipneyJane, didn't you have Covid not so long ago? I wonder if you're still recovering, and so more vulnerable to fluctuations? Roll on spring.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Yes, I did, @Cherryfudge. It has probably knocked some of the resilience out of me but it hasn't made any difference to my cold flushes. Even in summer, I can get shiveringly cold for no reason, which is when I mentioned them to my GP. (There is also no relationship between the hot and cold flushes. One doesn't trigger the other.)Cherryfudge said:Ooh, ooh, can we do the Teddy Bears' Picnic after that?

Yes please, re the Teddy Bear's Picnic.
@Laura_Elsewhere, if you are happy to teach the dances, count me in!

It sounds a nuisance as well as unpleasant, @PipneyJane.

Oooh, what about an Orcadian Strip the Willow?! That certainly warms you up... and wears you out in a very enjoyable way!

A ceilidh sounds good to me. I love them too.
I've been buying - new tshirt and a fluffy gilet. (I already have a fluffy gilet, but its been worn so much that its getting a bit bald in places, and I've been keeping an eye out for another one for a while), The tshirt will be 5 points, but I'm struggling a bit with the gilet. Its not a coat exactly as it has no sleeves or lining but its not a blouse either. Any ideas how many coupons I should use?Sealed Pot Challenge no 035.
Fashion on the Ration - 45/66 ( 5 - shoes, 1.5 - bra, 11.5 - 2 pairs of shoes and another bra, 5- t-shirt, 1.5 yet another bra!, 3 coupons swimming costume 1.5 yet another bra, 10 coupons, 2 jumpers, 6 coupons 6 prs of socks)4 -
Oddly, fluffy gilets seem to have been off ration in 1942. The nearest equivalent I can see is a man's waistcoat at 5 coupons, which seems quite a few, or a pinafore which I think was three but which I would imagine would have taken more fabric than a waistcoat.CapricornLass said:A ceilidh sounds good to me.
