Timed Auctions (not eBay) anti-sniping

Options
I've been looking at a few Auctions recently with a Timed format. They have an anti-sniping system, which extends the end time, should a bid be received in the final minutes/hours of an auction. So the exact opposite of eBay sniping. Does anyone know from experience if it tends to be a set time? 10 or 15 minutes before the end for example ?

The ones I have read increase the time by seconds not minutes - eg any bid with less than 30 seconds to go adds 10 seconds to the finish time.  So not really enough time to dither about if you want to bid, but you have at least 10 seconds to actually bid if you want to.  Like a live auction - time for the auctioneer to look around and ask 'any more bids'.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,

There are different sites around, so it should tell you somewhere. The professional auction houses tend to use a system that have a fixed end time for the entire auction. If a bid is made in the last few (can't recall that figure) minutes of the auction then that lot extends for 15 minutes. So if a bid arrives in the last second they add another 15 minutes to let other bidders know and bid again. It can end up extending some lots extending by an hour or more, especially if there are bidders who don't get that there's no point in sniping! I did see one once that went on for about 3 hours more.

Yahoo auctions had a feature where the listing was extended for several minutes after a bid.  Bid with 5 seconds
remaining and it would add another 5 minutes. If someone bid with seconds left again then it got extended again.

I preferred Yahoo auctions over Ebay but they closed most of them down and promoted Ebay.

I don’t like the extended time bids especially on my own auctions. I end my listings at a time that suits me , I don’t want some company taking that choice away from me.

On the sites like easylive auction which I use a lot it isn’t so bad, but when I have a time constraint for paying it is irritating. I bid on one auction that finishes from 4pm , I was going away and leaving the house by about 6pm and knew the auctioneer got his invoices out quickly. Extending the time meant I left home before my invoice arrived and I was trying to log into my banking (I don’t use a phone app) to pay the next day which was mildly annoying as I had to carry a card reader to do so.
