Weekly shop done - only actually spent £10 as had loads of vouchers to use up.Hoping to make it to next week without spending moreWidowed November 2024

Put my little Olio collection to use today

Lunch used the wraps, plus salad I got half price, to make grilled halloumi and Fried egg wraps with salad.
Tea I used the Olio quiche (third) and had it with vegan cheesy chips - I'm not a vegan but DD is and I learn recipes I like to use. For these I use vegan mayo and engevita and a sprinking of dried rosemary. Delish! Plus a little more of the salad
Tomorrow I'll use the mushrooms to make a mushroom omlette, and finish up the salad.
Tea will use up more quiche and maybe do a jacket with it. Using up the 16p bag of potatoes so all good price wise thus far.

Could I join please. I fell of the grocery challenge wagon last year as Long Covid got in the way but we really need to be on top of our spending as I’ve had to leave my job because I’ve been so poorly.
Could I go for an annual target again, this year for £6,760 which equates to £130 a week. We are a family of 5 (2 with dietary restrictions) plus 2 cats.2026 Decluttering Campaign Mrs SD – Our year of redistribution 23/208 (DF 0/52)

Have spent £119.01 out of £400 budget. Although my month started on the 26th Dec, I'm still shocked as I've bought something almost every day. Need to take control.

Wow, what a delightfully busy thread! I haven’t logged on in a couple of days and it exploded! I’m caught up now

I haven’t spent anything since my shop on Saturday, just plodding along with the food we have in, and the menu plan. I made some of my lentil soup yesterday, so that should last a couple of days. We’ve been on an egg muffin kick this week for breakfast, made some broccoli and cheddar ones, then we can just pop them in the fridge and grab a couple each morning. Not bread muffins, you know the ones where you use a muffin tin and make mini omelette things?Anyway, I just popped my first Olio order in for collection later… I hadn’t heard of it, but saw it in this thread and signed up. Got some salad bits for myself and a ton of various croissants and other pastries, which will serve the teens for breakfast, as they love a breakfast pastry, but they can be a bit expensive.
Also, about the Who Gives a !!!!!! loo roll, I highly recommend. We are a family of two adults and two teens, and I think I only order two boxes a year… so £80 a year for loo roll isn’t too bad I think?
I’d better scoot off to work now, have a fab day everyone

Helloooo!
Please May I join?Budget £200 for the month
This is for all food, drink, household items and dog food, and my month runs from 1st to 31st.
January may not actually be a representative month as I have a well stocked freezer post Christmas and New Year celebrations, but I shall be using cash to keep on track and any surplus will be carried forward / saved for festivities. So nothing spent so far.
Thank you to you all for your help and inspiration.

Hello all, I was going to lurk, but I think saying hello and stating my aims would be more beneficial! Have spent a fortune on groceries this last year, and with the state of the economy and needing to save for a house, we (hubbie and I) need to make more of a concerted effort to curb this very obvious overspend.
Only 2 adults, but one is a distance runner and he eats A LOT. This first month I am going to be gentle and say £400 for the month. I know that is still a crazy amount, but we have definitely been throwing away more than this in the past, so going to start gently and then plan to reduce the budget as the months go by and we get better at not over-spending.
Won't include alcohol, toiletries, household items such as kitchen roll/tin foil, or food bought out or takeaway- will literally be food and drink (non-alcoholic) bought at supermarket/grocers etc.
Counting the month from when we got back from our Christmas trip to see rellies, as we'd been paid for Jan by that point, and have spent £89.24 so far, as the shop(s) included NYE treats, and I hadn't thought about doing this challenge at that point!
Budget £400 for the month.

I'm trying to use up as much stuff out of the freezer and cupboards as possible this month as it's all a bit overflowing so I just popped to the little local shops for what I needed rather than the supermarket.
42p on some ys wholemeal rolls to start using up the many burgers in the freezer and £7.93 on fruit and tomatoes from the greengrocer. That should see me through until next week.
