PCN for entering pedestrian zone

Hello.
I was hoping I can get some information here regarding the following.
I've been issued with a penalty charge notice for entering a pedestrian zone. It was a road leading to my kids' school. I normally park on the parallel road when dropping my kids to school, but it was closed that day due to some road works. I did use the restricted 'pedestrian zone' road that day for about 20 yards only to access a connecting road which leads to the unrestricted parallel road I always use to park. I've been caught on a camera that day entering pedestrian zone. Can I somehow avoid paying that penalty charge or should I just pay?
Thank you in advance for any advice.

Presumably this is a council issued PCN? If not, tell us who issued it please. As we major on private parking tickets here, PePiPoo will be your best bet for council tickets. Register there but please note that a Hotmail address won't work - try using a throwaway Gmail account instead if you do have trouble registering, and post a new thread; here's your link:Have a read through some of the other threads there before you post your own, to get the hang of what information they need from you in your opening post - but as a minimum you will need to post redacted photos/scans of all correspondence you've received from the council (both sides, if appropriate), as they need to see all the small print. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Try the FTLA siteSince we concentrate on parking charge notices from unregulated private parking companies, you would be better off taking this over to our friends on https://ftla.uk (the recently started forum to replace/supplement Pepipoo), as they are the experts on council and police issues.
You will need register before reading the FAQs, then posting both sides of your PCN with your query
Private
https://www.ftla.uk/private-parking-tickets/CouncilPolice
It would seem that Pepipoo is still active, although a "site not secure" message is displayed, therefore posters have a choice of FTLA or: -PrivateCouncilPolice1
