Skirting around bricks. Angles and Mitre Box - Confused!?! (Picture inside) 📸

Really confused about what angles and how I cut the skirting architraves.
I have probably the simplest Mitre box from Screwfix, and for some reason, cutting the angles just doesn't seem to overlap at all. Youtube videos haven't helped.
I am quite possibly being very daft and missing the obvious, so any guidance/tips would be much appreciated on how best to cut the right angles to get the architraves to all the way around the bricks? Thank you
p.s. I know the picture shows a completely insane angle to what is probably required and that is after much trying all diff. angles with the mitre box

Hi,I'm no expert, but if you cut both ends of the middle bit as internal, then match the sides.0

The piece at the bottom of the picture - you put it into the box incorrectly. It has to sit there the same way as on the floor. Bottom part of the box = floor. Vertical part = wall/brick.The piece on the left - the position in the box was correct, but the angle has to be opposite - obtuse angle near the wall/brick (looking from the top).- that's what you need for 90 degrees external corner. However, your box is only for for 90 degrees corners - internal and external. Your corners are approx. 120 degrees and the cuts have to be approx 60 degrees, not 45.

https://www.toolstation.com/precision-mitre-saw/p76675 - Does most common angles, and with a little bit of jiggling, co do the in between stuff too.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Thats the best tool after a power mitre saw. The secret it being absolutely sure the piece you are cutting is perfectly upright, test your angles on scrap woodFreeBear said:grumbler said: However, your box is only for for 90 degrees corners - internal and external. I had something similar to cut so I used a paper template on the floor and cut the angles so it fitted then folded over to give the angle of each cut.0

For the amount involved a paper template as suggested by Knightstyle surely has to be the easiest0

A template is indeed the cheapest option, but you have to be very careful to get a vertical cut. Not always easy, especially for a beginner.baser999 said:For the amount involved a paper template as suggested by Knightstyle surely has to be the easiest

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
