Some threads get more interesting when they go 'off piste', as long as they do not generate into bickering, personal insults etc5

Personally, as long as the OP has had a few useful responses already, then I don't see that it would be a problem. In fact, the pensions and retirement board especially would be far less useful if people didn't share some of their hard learned anecdotes and observations, that may not be directly related to a previously asked question. The last thing these forums need would be over zealous moderation that stifles the community spirit that has been fostered by the regulars who gain a lot of support from their fellow MSE enthusiasts.Think first of your goal, then make it happen!9
