Notify DWP now or wait for Tell All Once Reference Number

Hi all, having lost my dad 2 days ago me and my mam is trying to get our heads around sorting everything out with his death. We have been told that the death will be reported to the registrar after Xmas holidays now as the ME wants to do his investigation as he died in ICU, a formality obviously but this will hold things up as they close at 4pm today and open again Tuesday 27th.
Should we call today or report the death to DWP or wait for the reference number and use the Tell All Once service. Also I will need to notify Carers Allowance so I can continue to receive it for the 8 weeks run on. Any advice is appreciated as this is really stressful trying to deal with everything only after 2 days of his passing. Thanks again

See https://www.gov.uk/when-someone-dies for general guidance.
If you delay until you can report through Tell Us Once then your dad will continue to receive any payments he is receiving which may result in an overpayment which DWP will seek to recover. The direct contact for DWP is included on this page

The reality is that everything is winding down today and offices will now be closed until Wednesday.
If mum and dad were receiving benefits what mum will need to do now to continue to receive benefits (if applicable) will depend on what she currently gets and how old she is.

See OP previous thread. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6412754/need-advice-for-my-mother-who-just-lost-my-dad#latestAs your mum and dad were receiving Pension Credit then this will stop because your mum is under state pension age. It would be better to keep all your questions related to this under one thread because it does save confusion.
