Anyone else not had a British Gas statement since June?
I was migrated to BG a year ago when my energy provider went under. Since then I've had 3 statements in my online account (I have paperless billing). The last one was in June. For obvious reasons I'm keen to get information on my recent usage and billing, but there is nothing available on the BG website.
I've apparently been migrated to their new system, but neither the new or old systems has anything more recent than June.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Have you submitted any readings to them?0

Are they not another of the 6 month billing cycle suppliers ?

You can opt for monthly billing, e.g. Monthly Variable Direct Debit or Monthly Fixed Direct Debit.0

I have a smart meter, but the monitor stopped working a couple of months ago and when I reported this to BG they told me there was nothing that could be done. I'm paying by monthly D/D, but currently have no idea whether my current payments are leaving my account balance in credit or debit.0

Does your account show that the meter is sending readings?
regardless, if you read the meter now, you can roughly work out the likely cost of your use by using the current reading in conjunction with the previous one showing. Remember that there is a conversion factor to apply to go from the units on the meter to the kWh value. That will be shown on your bill, but I believe you can get a rough rule of thumb by multiplying the units used from the meter x 11.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I would contact customer service and ask them to move you to monthly billing.
If you ring with your meter readings they should also be able to give you an idea of where your account stands as regards credit/ debit balance. If you are able to log into your account you can change to monthly billing & update your meter readings yourself. When I was with BG I opted to pay actual value bills each month so account was always up to date and I paid exactly what I used each month.Lancashire

Just read the meters on the wall and do the sums. Multiply the gas m3 volume by 11.3 to get a kWh reading that will be near enough. Don't forget the standing charges.Or change to Variable DD, but of course that will mean higher bills in winter and lower in summer.0

Or use the Bright app with your smart meter. No free lunch, and no free laptop

i second the recomendation for the bright app. you need the number off the back of your in home display then download the app and you can use your phone as the display.itm2 said:I have a smart meter, but the monitor stopped working a couple of months ago and when I reported this to BG they told me there was nothing that could be done. but several people have mentioned taking a meter reading directly. if youve not done this before you might not know that you need to go tot he actual meter (not the display) and press a button. that makes the screen light up and you can see the number of units youve used displayed on the meter.
you can then take an earlier reading (your june bill) and see the amount youve used since that reading. times that number by 11.3 and that tells you how many kwh you have used. that then is timed by your unit rate to tell you the cost of gas you have used.
after that you need to look at the date of the last bill and work out how many days it has been between the two readings. you can then work out how many days standing charge you need to add to your use to work out the bill (and if you want to add vat at 5% you add it to the total of use plus standing charge)
if you get stuck post the meter reading from your june bill here and a picture of your meter after you have pressed a button to light up the display and we can work it out for you.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

Understanding the usage costs is the first step. The other important part of the picture is that the June bill showed an unexpectedly high credit balance of around £300.
Current readings on the meters are:
Gas: 7295.9
Elec: 52471
(Smart Meter) Readings at June 25th were:
Gas: 6408
Elec: 49147
So I assume that my electricity usage for the period since June 25th was 3,324kWh(?). Gas units were 887, so multiplied by 11.3 ...roughly 10,023kWH?
The Bright app sounds interesting. Does it require the newer smart meters? Mine are first generation, installed in 2012.0
