Proving your identity on Vinted

I know we get a lot of threads about the need to prove your identity on ebay and several people think this is just ebay being difficult. However, I have been selling on Vinted now for several months and have just had a withdrawal blocked as apparently I have reached a threshold and need to prove my identity. I have uploaded, as requested a photo of my driving license and await the 'yes or no' decision.
I'll come back and update when I next hear anything.
Incidentally I didn't think I had sold that much on there, certainly less than £500 so their threshold is much lower than ebay.

Is it just me or is anyone else worried about all these companies asking for your personal data. I can understand why to reduce
fraud etc. But how many other companies are they sharing that data with?
Before you even login to vinted its connecting to facebook, amazon, google, apple, several browser agents and a strange one
pbstck.com?
I use a browser addon called NoScript, it's not something everyone should run it breaks websites constantly because they are
doing stuff in the background that you probably do not realise.
It's amazing how many websites the load in the background and it makes me wonder how much of my data they are
sharing.
Checkout a video on Youtube by BlackBeltBarrister, video title "How to LOSE Business!" regarding websites using software
to share your information and in his situation they tracking his browsing habits to his business and his wife.
Complete contact details, phone numbers and partner/business associate names etc etc...Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Their privacy policy should tell you about what data they share; the USA can be quite lax as evidenced by the number of sites that can't be bothered to comply with GDPR, but any sites actually available over here do comply.0 -
Whilst I understand concerns this has always been the case. I sell professionally and as such have to identify myself both to the authorities and to buyers - including letting them have my geographic (in my case home) address. When I had a professional business as a sole trader again I had to be searchable with my details available to comply with all my registration requirements I also held a post- and actually still do in a slightly different capacity which requires me to have my details available and searchable by the general public, and even now if I search my real name I can bring up public records and photos of me going back 25 years.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Off topic but how are you finding Vinted? I'm looking for an alternative to sell my daughter's clothing most of which is either unused or used once or twice then grown out of. And a few things of my own which have been sat unused for a while and still new with their labels on.
I find ebay is pretty slow to move clothing even if I list it at 99p plus postage. Is Vinted a good alternative?0 -

You list an item for exactly what you want for it, but it is best to add a small amount to allow for offers (offers is a big part of Vinted). You must also set which postage options you can use and disable any you can’t, all are integrated in Vinted apart from Royal Mail , and I have disabled RM as there is a problem in that you don’t get paid until buyer confirms delivery.
when something sells you get the item price, with no fees deducted, and you get a postage label. Drop the item off wherever label says and when it eventually shows as delivered buyer gets 2 days to confirm they are happy, then your money is released. Once money appears in your balance you can withdraw it to your bank , but that can take up to a week, so none of this is quick. All the fees are paid by buyer, they pay Vinted your item cost (which you get) the postage price, a set fee and a percentage based on the total.Other than that remember to choose your postage size when listing so you get the correct size label, and also only list if there is a category for it. They have limited categories so not everything can be sold.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. And do I have the right to delete the data if I no longer want to use the site? How can I rely on UK data protection laws when these companies are complying with laws in other countries?Unfortunately, I have found there is no real alternative to ebay for certain items as other second hand websites do not get so many views, especially if you prefer to sell by post and not face to face. I stopped selling with ebay because of ID requirements but ended up registering with Amazon about eight months later and of course had to submit ID.Vinted haven't asked me for ID but I only have around £100 worth of sales on there.0 -
Spoonie_Turtle said:A lot of the background processes on websites are for the social media sharing buttons (I don't know if that applies on Vinted but I'd be surprised if it doesn't) and Amazon hosts a huge amount of the websites on the net - AWS, the part of Amazon that actually makes money.

business all by personal name and phone numbers. Not just a random list of these unknown users all used this IP or an ISP in this general
location have had x number of searches for a keyword.
Data collection is obviously not GDPR compliant and goes far beyond what they admit to collecting.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
We sell a lot of clothes on vinted. Far better than eBay for clothes in my opinion. We use inpost and evri shipping. Had some issues with the labeless shipping with inpost in the first couple of weeks but that's calmed down.
We use the inpost lockers to send a lot of the smaller evri labelled stuff too. I was quite scared of using inpost to start with but they have a customer service department you can actually talk too, and they have remote control over the lockers.
The only issue is when all the lockers are full. Which for sure will happen between now and Tuesday. You can check locker status on their website in advance now.0 -
