How do I remove ESET antivirus

I made a mistake by downloading ESET antivirus on to my laptop and now cannot remove it
It does not appear on my program list
There is a shortcut on my desktop that, when I delete - keeps reappearing !
How do I completely remove it ?
If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.
