Money shuffle all complete!
I added the council tax for Feb to the mortgage pot. Not 100% sure if that is where it is going to stay but it can stay there for now.
I have also set up a personal pension with Pension bee. I've transferred a very old work pension to it to start it off and then will be paying £100 a month for now. In the future, I will probably be self-employed in some shape or form so it makes sense. I also have my Local government pension I am contributing to now as well as my teacher pension (which I am not contributing to) but they are both very low so I need to do something. Husband's is going to be a good one so no worries there. I have to start setting the precedent now as I am 41 and will really need the chance of saving a decent pension.
I'm going to convince my husband to do the same with the pensions he has collected over the years as well. That will be a huge tick off the list of financial things to do.

Good call on addressing the pensions. So I made £12.42 on eBay selling three things. Not bad. Have added it to the overpayment pot along with the council tax money. I can always take that out of there if necessary but have decided it can stay for now.
On instagram I’ve heard about a tactic called #mortgage13 where you aim to make an extra payment a year to reduce your mortgage.
Im thinking about employing this, reducing the term by two years every time we remortgage and seeing how it goes! Whilst also trying to be frugal and reduce our costs/up our income.

Morning all!
Mortgage payment gone out and interest applied bringing the balance to £254,794.
So we are heading nicely to sub £250,000 which is the next goal.

Morning all
Half term week here thank goodness!Big week this week because I decided to quit my job. I’m supposed to be doing interventions at my school but all I seem to do is deal with behavioural issues and parents who can’t parent. This is not how I want to spend my life. Im considering returning to teaching and working part time. If I manage to do that I will be earning about £200 more a month than I do now and won’t have to pay as much childcare so it will be worth it.I haven’t taught now for 3 years so shall prob do supply to get back into it whilst I apply for other jobs. Luckily now we are debt free and have savings I can make these sorts of changes in my life.
I haven’t handed in my notice just yet but I have told my manager of my intentions. Im going to work out a plan this half term.No other money news really. We need to be really good and mindful over the next two weeks for food as that budget is running very low. Loads in the cupboards though so shall have an eat up week.

Oh there was something to report. A child didn’t go to wrap around care for some reason I can’t remember so I’ve add another £4 to the pot but I can’t remember the total so I will work it out later.Debt-free Jan 2023 | MFW date Dec 2033. Start date 1st January 2023 £257,509 (23 years left)

Bonus for going back to teaching part time (apart from the increase in wage) is hopefully a couple of free days? Although, I understand some will be used for prep etcDFD March 2025 (£35000 paid off)

Supply is a good shout, gives you chance to get your name and face known in schools but also let’s you know which schools you would want to work in and those you wouldn’t! Best of luck with those future plans.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Supply sounds like a good call. One of my walking friends just works supply whenever she fancies a few extra pounds to supplement her pension.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards.
