Back to work for me today. I’m looking forward to getting back into a routine. It’s a slow climb to the spring isn’t it but lots to look forward to this year.

How exciting, you're on the MFW boards!! I lurk around here for a bit of inspiration but with so much left to do on our house and balancing savings/pensions etc. I've not taken the plunge yet myself, despite having a much larger mortgage than your 'horrifically large' one and a much longer term too!! eek... It’s very surreal to be on here especially as the mortgage free plans are yet to build any sort of momentum.
Ha ha re actual mortgage figure. I do feel mine is horribly large. I’m 41 ow and everyone I’ve spoke to who is in their 50s has way smaller mortgages than us. It’s amazing how much prices have gone up.
We still need to do savings (although currently have £40k!!!! Sitting in a savings account and pensions but I want to do it all at the same time.Good luck with all your plans! XxDebt-free Jan 2023 | MFW date Dec 2033. Start date 1st January 2023 £257,509 (23 years left)

Cracking in with this new diary. Getting mortgage free in around 10 years is going to be a challenge for us for sure. We love adventures and travel which for a family of 4 going in school holidays is expensive. This has always been our priority though and is not something to compromise on. We shall we realistic but mortgage overpaying comes second.
We now have an Easter cottage in the uk break booked as well as a European adventure for august. I paid the deposit today and have a plan for the rest of it. We need to save for spending money though so that is one thing i will be keeping track of on here.
Husband went food shopping today and was just shy of our weekly budget which was great! Some food should carry us into the third week of January as well.
He has received a £100 parking ticket which will have to come out of the emergency fund which will then need topping up at the end of the month. My little mortgage round up pot towards mortgage stuff is £32.42 - some over budgeted childcare and rounding down my bank accounts. Not bad for one week in Jan!
Food, fuel and family spending money are dealt with in Monzo. Any funds left at the end of the month shall go into our holiday spending money pot. So we have to be careful.
I must just say it has been lovely driving around in my car this week knowing it’s paid off!
Husband is cooking a curry and handmaids tale tonight. I can hear the rain battering the windows so looking forward to getting cozy on the sofa later.

Holidays are very important to us as a family so i totally understand where you are coming from, my 2 children are now grown up and still talk about our holidays, they are at the stage where they are going on holiday/adventures with partners and friends but talk about when they have children and us all going on holiday together, making memories are important and something that will stay with and your children forever. I don't regret a single holiday, enjoy and hold on to every moment. xx1

Managed to get mortgage app set up.
Im going to have to start reporting on it at the end of the month when interest is added.
It’s slightly less than I thought which is good - £256,690. Only about £100 but not a bad estimate from my trusty spreadsheet!!
