Can I Apply for 2 credit cards in a short space of time And be accepted?

My existing 0% BT ends in July and I am also wanting to finally take the plunge and get laser eye surgery in March which I want to put on a long 0% purchases card.

I’ve always waited 6 months between applications in the past but these will be within 2/3 months of each other, is it likely for them to go through? Or should I apply for both at the same time and move the BT a couple months early so that the new purchases card doesn’t show up yet?

I had a look for a card that offers a longer term 0% purchases and BT but couldn’t find one over 12 months on each.

I am well on the way to paying off my 2 other credit cards, these will both be paid and closed off by July. Post July the focus is clearing off this BT and laser eye surgery which I should be able to do in a year but would like the extra wiggle room just in case

  • Yes you can.

Whether you will, depends on your credit risk and lender criteria. Either strategy could work, depending on your situation.

Yes you can. A few people here have reported getting accepted a few BT/MTs Creditcards in relatively short period in less than a month. But keep in mind the acceptance will depend on personal circumstances.
In my personal opinion it is better to apply simultaneously at the same time as close as possible as you take advantage of the leeway before that search and the amount of credit you have appear on your credit file.
  • Since posting I’ve found an MBNA card offering 18 months 0% purchases and BT that I’ve been pre approved for with a big enough limit so hopefully will still be around in March when I need it and solves my query. Would prefer to have one card to pay off instead of 2 as well

Wouldn’t you be better off applying for it now? Seeing as you’re pre-approved already and just keeping it for March?
i don’t see the point in delaying it, things might have changed by then

Issuers have no knowledge of other issuers accepting you or not unless and until the card you applied for appears on your report, so it's not possible to enforce such a rule even if they wanted to.

I agree but it says you have to make the purchase/BT within 60 days of opening the card and I’m not having the laser eye surgery till the end of March. Need the extra time incase I chicken out 😂
  • If it's a 0% purchase card for X months, surely it doesn't matter if you make the purchase now or then? Just a few little purchases leading up to it to keep it active so to speak?

I applied for 2 x CC's within 2 months and both approved - with relatively large limits each
If you believe you can, you will. If you believe you can't, you won't.
