Asda Credit Card shock

Slightly annoyed but thats life.

Recently moved into a flat after a split with my GF and had to borrow on my CC for the deposit. With everything I ran up a bill of about £1300 which I was going to start paying off after xmas. My card has a £4k limit.

Got a letter yesterday dated the 12th saying they were reviewing my account and dropping my limit to £1400. Think I went over that this weekend with xmas pressies.

It says they will drop the limit 9 days from the date of the letter which puts it on the 21st. I get paid that day so can't pay anything off till after that.

Do you reckin they will charge me? I went over the £1400 before I got the letter.

Tried phoning them (GE Capital) but got tired of waiting after 40 minutes listening to music.

Got another card to move the funds about but its going to take 5 working days which is after that date.

Merry ****** xmas to me

I think it would be unreasonable to charge you as you made the purchases when you thought you had sufficient limit. If they did, I am sure that they would have to make a refund.
  • I think you need to telephone them and explain the situation. Try calling at non peak times.

Phoned up and they made it £1500, very nice lady on the phone was apologetic and said I wasn't singled out it was just something they do.

    Timing still stinks.
