Unable to get Smart Meter Replacement from EoN - Why is this?

My electrics tripped in 2020 and the smart meter device stopped working, but the system were still able to read my meters without issue. I've tried initially over three calls that they either couldn't replace it or they gave me nos. that weren't relevant to my query. Has anyone had success in obtaining a replacement before and if so, can they advise how they went about this. It would be useful for this time of year to calculate how much I'm spending on my heating etc.

Welcome to the forum.Just read the meters on the wall and do the sums. For gas, multiply the difference in m3 readings by 11.36 which will give you a reasonably accurate kWh figure.1

Are you talking about the small In Home Display screen?
If so, I don't think the electricity supplier has any obligation to replace the display if it is more than 12 months since it was first provided.
Have you considered using the Bright App on a smart phone? It won't give instantaneous readings like the in home display unit, but you can look at monthly/daily/hourly trends over time. It is free to use.3 -
Thanks for your replies so far.
Yes, it's the Home Display screen. I was willing to pay for a replacement but after failing to get through to EoN, I gave up. My meters are butted against my sofa, so it's a little inconvenient to read them without pulling up the rug and moving the heavy sofa out, but I get the idea of calculating the meter. Sorry, but what's the m3? I'm not the most useful tool in the box!0 -
m3 is cubic metres, the volume measured by metric gas meters. Older meters measure in (hundreds) of cubic feet, ft3.1

Either of these suppliers will sell you an IHD. It will be paired to your comms hub before it is sent out:nachtvlinders said:Thanks for your replies so far.

Dolor:Thanks for your reply. It's great to know I can buy these, but how reliable is it - does anyone here have a replacement that they've bought direct from another company before?0

Try the Bright app first, as it's free, see if it gives you enough information.
My IHD has never worked since I was given it by the meter fitter in June. I'd prefer a new IHD but manage OK with the Bright app which is updated about every 8 hours.
Now at 10.15 it's showing data up to 4pm, it's good enough.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

I use two mobile apps, Hugo and loop. Hugo only gives you the readings from the previous day, whereas loop has a 3 hour delay.0

Chameleon provides the IHD3 and 6 to a number of suppliers. I have an IHD6. The IVIE Bud is an IHD6 derivative. Hildebrand is a very reputable technology firm.nachtvlinders said:Dolor:Thanks for your reply.
