Oooh….Chambray dress (Italian) £1 sounds intriguing…..any chance of a pic please?Cherryfudge said:Good fun yesterday finding lots of things at Thirsk car boot sale. I don't feel guilty spending more than the £10 a week I loosely allocated to myself, as we missed both boot sales last week and the Bedale one yesterday morning, and I not only bought quite a few things but I resisted some, too.
Haul:
Chambray dress (Italian) £1
White tee shirt, ASOS £1 (this was on my wish list)
Blue and pink cotton jumper, M&S £2
Two clip-lid bottles, £1 each (also from my wish list).
2 David Winter ornaments, £3 (I was going to sell them on as they used to be collectable but they would cost a lot to post and have gone off the boil, so they may be donated).
Carrying case for small cakes £2
Toys for DGD £2
Cushion (feather cushion in a cover that matches the lounge, currently online as part of a set of covers) £2.
Re jumbo oats, as mentioned, fab in flapjack, especially with a few crushed cornflakes thrown in……dribbles!@Nelliegrace. Those hankies are sooo pretty! I used to make bobbin lace as a hobby so really love things like that. I always keep a lace hanky in each of my ‘good’ handbags, just in case I have an attack of the vapours!
First trip out after Covid quarantine today so Ripon, here I come!10 -
Nothing doing in Ripon yesterday. Tootled around my local chazza shops today and came home with a very nice burgundy Reiss jacket, appears brand new as pockets not cut and some tags still on, £10. Found it online original price £225! Could perhaps have done with the next size up but as the jacket is 'edge to edge' rather than fastened I think I can get away with it. Have just the dress for it too.....a Hobbs flowery, floaty sleeveless dress in shades of pink, purple & burgundy. I like the idea of pairing it with camel in autumn tho!

You'll be a smarty about town then! This is what I consider to be work wear - wearing a jacket is been a little trying in this heat. I'd rather be back in scrubs which are freezing 99% of the year.Miró said:Nothing doing in Ripon yesterday. I have been looking for ramekin dishes. DH has reduced mine to two. He expects them to move out of the way as he pulls something from the back of a cupboard or the fridge, instead of moving them first.
I have bought 6 Royal Worcester Evesham and 4 Denby Bakewell for a total of £9.99, so £1 each plus postage. I have assorted plastc lids for them.

That kind of deliberate negligence would make me cross! I take it he has redeeming features?Nelliegrace said:I have been looking for ramekin dishes. DH has reduced mine to two. Ramekins are beautiful btw, ready for single servings of apple and berry crumbles with single cream

Pretty little dishes, I like them

(Rosa what's KOOTROC...? )For every packet of fags you smoke, Jesus takes a month off your life and gives it to Keith Richards.4 -
@Nelliegrace Don't you have stacks of little dishes, (ex yogurt containers and other puddingy dishes) you could limit DH to??? I have millions of the blooming things, glass, ceramic ice cream coloured ones and some cute French glass milk churny ones. ( I swear every time I open the cupboard door mine have multiplied by 50%! And why can I not part with any of them???)10

I tend to re-use Bon Mamon shaped jamjars for leftovers from tins. My plain ramekins get used for hot dripping, bacon fat and cooked bits and pieces. I have a couple I kept for rabbit or chicken giblets when we raised them for meat. I like ramekins because they rarely get tipped over. The pretty ones will be for puddings, they are good for portion control.
I have lots of 1 oz jars. We had a large Christmas tea party with the WI, and I asked a few friends for their empty jam jars. Word went round, and I got everybody's, and the waitress brought a bag full from the kitchen! Friends save jam jars for me, and I get new lids in bulk from WI or through beekeeping.8 -
You're right you can get desserts / cream / yoghurts in really cut ramekins / jars / bottles etc but to my mind they are only worth the price if heavily yellow stickered!Miró said:@Nelliegrace Don't you have stacks of little dishes, (ex yogurt containers and other puddingy dishes) you could limit DH to??? I’ve been on a little trip to Scotland and as well as walks on the beach, sunshine (yes really) and lots of food and drink I managed to find the following CS bargains:
Autograph silver dress £5.75
Hush grey tee with blue diamanté stars over on shoulder £3
White Khost tee £3
Thiick black stretch treggings £2.25
Le Creuset teal small rectangular stoneware dish £3. It was quite grubby but once I’d cleaned it in VGC
And much to DHs mirth a free standing duck egg blue bog roll holder/ stand £1.
