A second hand ring caught my eye in a local jewellers last weekend - stunning. What took the shine off was not knowing the provenance. Ifs its stolen goods, I'd rather have no part in its karmic cycle.
I would have asked the question - from personal experience of flogging unwanted jewellery in the last few years, proof of identity is generally required, if not some actual evidence that the item is yours to sell such as receipt or photo of it being worn.

Was the knife parcel not meant for you @DigForVictory
It had the Dig family name on it - it was a thankyou surprise for a CD of instructions on the care & feeding of the Bren gun. From one book & a bit of OCR & being happy to help fellow Bren owners we made friends right round the commonwealth…

@Brie delighted you were able to rehome some knives - several shops we’re known to kept single knitting needles even more apart as Himself put them to all manner of uses but was scrupulous not to break up a pair or set.

That's absolutely gorgeous, @Miró. I don't claim any inside knowledge on the technique, but I'm sure someone can help.

Gorgeous scarf @Miró - I don't have any knowledge about that either, sorry.

Got up at 6.30am on Sunday for a boot fair only for it to be cancelled due to a waterlogged field. Not much advance notice just a tweet at 5am! Loads of folk standing at the bus stop opposite the entrance with their shollies!

    Scarf envy!!!

One of my sisters in law does felting and that's the first thing I thought of when I saw that.  There's also a technique whereby wool (of any sort I suppose) is loosely woven and then the fabric is shrunk to make it very strong and water resistant which is a variation on this and might explain the solidness of the background material (I visited a loden coat factory in Austria a few years back)
Reassuring to have another opinion...thanks!  (Envy your Loden 'experience', things like that fascinate me).  I have been down a few YouTube worm holes re felting now, a whole world of crafting I knew nothing about!  I love how a single chazza buy can spark new interests.  Yesterday I bought a b/n pair of 'Graceland' ballet stylee shoes in a tan, tweedy fabric with a slight lurex thread from a local chazza, £5.  Not a premium brand I don't think but sooo comfy.

Been wondering for ages why there is so much brand new Zara stuff in all the chazza shops right now?  Anyone else noticed and know why?  Also seen loads of brand new Charles Tyrwhitt menswear??

@Miró, I've seen the Charles Trewitt as well (BHF Darlington, I think). Staff told us the company donates surplus stock. I've not noticed the Zara items but I will now. :D

@Frith, I like that top! Perfect for summer (with an umbrella).

I wonder if @CAFCGirl would have any insight on your scarf, Miro? I think she knows things about fabric... it looks wonderfully light to wear.
