eHarmony free trial

Options
Hi all
So in this week's money saving email there was a link for 3 days free eHarmony premium for new joiners. So I clicked on the link and joined, as I was taking my time to word things right the website logged me out at the end and didn't save everything. When I logged back in I couldn't figure out how to get the 3 free days. When I click on 'upgrade to premium' as directed it wants payment details.
Is anyone able to help me figure out what I've done wrong? Or if I can even still claim this free period?

Probably wants payment details to charge you a fortune after three days.
  • I wondered that but money saving email this week says "You won't need to give any card details and you won't be entered into a subscription". So I don't want to give out any details that rope me in to something for 3 to 6 months.

Honestly, I don't think you'll get any value out of a free 3 days of premium, since it will almost certainly take longer to fill the info in, message people etc. and then fix up a date or two.

Are you doing this as a trial to see if eharmony might be a dating site for you? (Card details would be entered after the 3 days) or as a completely free dating option (like PoF).

I've found Classic FM and others that use the same generic platform are the best value for money i.e. what you get for the free option.  Can't remember on what basis I fell out with eHarmony but at least one of those other sites I signed up for the "free trial" but all my messages were blocked by the site saying I was asking for contact details, which I wasn't. By the time I got it sorted the free trial was over, surprise surprise. If you just sign up for a free trial I think you will come across as very hasty wanting to arrange contact details or dates before it is over, which is a red flag for many.

I tried it to see and it all went through OK without asking for any details and gave me a 5 day account. I guess you needed to upgrade to premium when you first registered as it's probably now lost the record of you having the free trial link.

ETA: It looked rubbish anyway so I don't think you are missing much. Spent about 10 minutes doing their questions and got 5 people within 50 miles of me.
  • Thanks everyone, I was mostly doing it because it was free to see what it was like as an option.
Internet dating is a bit of a pain for me anyway because I'm bisexual. I have to decide which gender I am looking for as very few allow both at the same time.
If anyone has good recommendations please let me know.

Yeah, once again try Classic FM.  You can be a man/woman looking for men/women/men or women.

I think eharmony was the one where they said in order to contact both men and women you'd need to set up two accounts and then they would link them for you.  I was furious and said they were being discriminatory but they wouldn't apologise so I went elsewhere.

And what I meant by "use the same platform" is that when I tried RestLess dating I found that the site looked exactly the same as Classic FM, just a different colour, and lots of the same folk were on there.  Which gives you a wider pool to pick from.
