Lots of scam adverts about using MSE logos/ pictures of Martin Lewis etc etc.waqasahmed said:
I'm not on about the adverts. I was wondering why the MSE team were (apparently) promoting them but it seems there's no evidence of them promoting them.MouldyOldDough said:You cannot get heat power (energy) from thin air - to get a certain amount of energy to raise the temperature of a fixed space say 3 degrees will always use x watts of power - no matter what source it comes from.So these adverts promoting halogen heaters are at best a lie and at worst an attempted con1 -

If you want to heat your body rather than the house then halogen heaters are the best bet out of electric heaters.1

I agree that a halogen heater is the best option for a small electric heaters but only for solo occupiers as you have to sit very close to them when they will heat the air as well as the body .Heated throws etc do not heat the air you breath in . My Halogen heater will not heat my room up much at all but 1 or 2 bars has been quite adequate sat a few feet from it .waqasahmed said:

At a cost of 13 p an hour or 26 p with 2 bars on its a great saving on expensive gas heating at around £1 an hour from my boiler0 -
Heated throws cost pennies, I used mine from lunchtime until around 11pm when I was full of cold last week, used just over 0.2kWh. It was on high heat for first couple of hours too.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

Yup. Heated throws are so much better. If I had the cash, I'd have AC in every room, both for the time where the heat becomes absolutely completely unbearable in summer, and for warmth during winterAlnat1 said:Heated throws cost pennies, I used mine from lunchtime until around 11pm when I was full of cold last week, used just over 0.2kWh.
