It will have 100% effect on efficiency if it gets to well below 0 degrees and the water in the machine freezes,Rheumatoid said:I'm thinking about getting a heat pump drier but it would need to go in the garage and mainly be used in the cold months. Does this have any impact on their efficiency?0 -

Well that answers my question then. I won't be getting a heat pump dryer as the dryer is kept in the garage which is freezing.0

We have Hotpoint condenser dryer in an outbuilding that regularly goes below freezing. It does work at those temperatures, but hasn't suffered damage as far as we can tell.marcia_ said:Well that answers my question then. Depending on model between approx 10%-20% of the moisture extracted from the clothes does not end up in the collection tank/outlet it must be going somewhere.Qyburn said:
I must admit I'd always assumed they recycled. But if they don't vent to the room then why the concern about condensation?getmore4less said:
What makes you think they pull in room air and vent all air that has been through the cycle?Qyburn said:Why don't heat pump driers recycle the hot air anyway? Surely that would be better than venting to the room.
Condensation will depend on environment the machine is in.
Most houses probably none unless already suffering.
