That doesn't look like a heat pump drier.

I'm thinking about getting a heat pump drier but it would need to go in the garage and mainly be used in the cold months. Does this have any impact on their efficiency?
It will have 100% effect on efficiency if it gets to well below 0 degrees and the water in the machine freezes,

    Bosch S8 heat pump

Do not install or operate this appliance anywhere that is liable to experience frost and/or outdoor conditions. There is a risk that the appliance will be damaged if residual water in it freezes. If hoses freeze up, they may crack/burst.

    ■ This appliance is intended for use up to a maximum height of 2000 metres above sea level.

    Bosch S6 condenser

ATTENTION!   If residual water in the appliance freezes, this may cause damage to the appliance. ▶ Do not install or operate this appliance anywhere that is liable to experience frost or outdoors.

Well that answers my question then. I won't be getting a heat pump dryer as the dryer is kept in the garage which is freezing.

It seems the instructions apply to all dryers as they retain some water while not in use

We have Hotpoint condenser dryer in an outbuilding that regularly goes below freezing. It does work at those temperatures, but hasn't suffered damage as far as we can tell.

Why don't heat pump driers recycle the hot air anyway?  Surely that would be better than venting to the room.
What makes you think they pull in room air  and vent all air that has been through the cycle?
I must admit I'd always assumed they recycled. But if they don't vent to the room then why the concern about condensation?

Depending on model between approx 10%-20% of the moisture extracted from the clothes does not end up in the collection tank/outlet it must be going somewhere.

Condensation will depend on environment the machine is in.

Most houses probably none unless already suffering.
