E7 etc. / single rate calculator

I've had a rough stab at a calculator (as I'm very much an old thinking kind of guy!)

Put a rough guess of your low rate and high rate consumption and tariff rates, and it will compare your bill to the regional default EPG cap (and a 3rd standard tariff of your choice). Obviously it'll be chaos if more than one person uses it online at the same time, so probably best to save your own copy. Fab, thanks - would you mind if I share this beyond MSE, please? (Obviously with the instruction to make a copy before use.)0

Thanks pensionpawn, I've added your cunning formula into the spreadsheet as a night time usage target.pensionpawn said:The percentage of your total energy consumption that must be at night (during the E7 period) must be greater than:
(day rate - single rate) / (day rate - night rate)
if E7 is to be cheaper than single rate for you.
In other words your:
night consumption / total consumption > (day rate - single rate) / (day rate - night rate)4.7kWp (12 * Hyundai S395VG) facing more or less S + 3.6kW Growatt inverter + 6.5kWh Growatt battery. SE London/Kent. Fitted 03/22 £1,025/kW + battery £24950 -
With some of these really low night rates now becoming available, you should be better off by switching (unless you are already on them)EssexHebridean said:
That's an interesting claim. I'm currently running around 90% night use but my annual costs are increasing - as both my day and night rates are increasing I don't think there's a ratio I could hit that would see a decrease, somehow!dunstonh said:It's obviously been an issue for a while that people are on inappropriate tariffs for their usage but much more so now, and especially as E7 / E10 prices are mostly increasing in January.Or mostly decreasing depending on your usage ratio.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
