How much per hour to run a standard gas fire?

Mine is the radiant type Flavel model similar to second link in InvertedVee s 1st post.
In now milder weather central heating has taken 8kw in first hour to take living room to 17 degrees. Then drops below 6kw an hour to keep it up and is heating 4 radiators.
Edit. But getting above 18 degrees in living room is an ongoing thing. One trickle of the gas fire on top of central heating can do it easily. Still testing.
macman , hadnt thought about that. That makes sense1 -
My gas fire hasn’t been on this winter, very inefficient as the heat doesn’t seem to travel very far into the room, it’s inset so most of it goes up the chimney. I’ve used it in the past & sat in front of it. The lounge takes ages to heat up to 18c in the morning with the GCH so I put a 2kw fan heater on to boost it for 30 mins. It seems from the posts here that the fan heater is probably cheaper & more effective than the gas fire at getting the room up to temp.0

Novice investor . Try 2kw convector heater. Lovely heat. You cant beat it. Like you say 30 min boost or maybe more if can afford.
Having read other threads too it seems heating living room to reach nice temp needs secondary source.0 -

Speed is another factor entirely, but I doubt that your gas fire, even with it's reduced efficiency, is outputting less than 2kW on full bore.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
