Refused car insurance at end of year.

Hi

Can anyone help me with advise as what to do ?

I have been refused car insurance just before my renewal, I contacted the ombudsman and they took on my case.
I'm worried it will cost  more money in the future when I have to tell insurance companies I have been refused insurance in the past.

Being refused renewal isn’t the same as having insurance cancelled. Not sure it has to be disclosed at all.

You've quoted something which literally says you don't need to disclose it to future insurers.

A decline to quote typically doesnt have to be declared, if that was the case then anyone who's ever used an aggregator like confused.com would have to admit to hundreds of declines as there are always a load of insurers/brokers at the bottom of the list saying they arent quoting. 

A minority explicitly ask if you've been denied a renewal quote, for these cases you'd need to say yes.  As the FOS letter says, it just a change in the risk appetite of their panel of insurers and so not due to your fault if those that do ask this question and then ask for an explanation.
