Prepayment gas meter credit
Hello I have about £200 credit in the gas meter from Scottish/British gas its a prepayment gas meter but i will be moving in Jan 2023 to a new home with a gas meter in it. Can someone explain how i would transfer the credit in the gas meter to the new home . Its a lot of money i don't want to loose. For safety reasons the gas in my current home is switched off so i wont be able to use the credit in the prepayment meter before i move home

Not sure if Scottish Gas have the exact same set up, but assume it's similar to BG's one where you can fill in a form through their hub and they'll send you a cheque for the credit owed. Here's a link to how they do it at BG if it helps https://www.britishgas.co.uk/help-and-support/pay-as-you-go/moving-from-a-place-with-a-pay-as-you-go-meter

You can' 'transfer the credit' or transfer the account. You need to get it refunded from BG when you close your account.
You will be in a deemed contract with the existing supplier at the new home and need to register for a new account with them and supply reads on day one.No free lunch, and no free laptop
