Message from Doug McCallum: LIVE 8 Ticket Sales***
14 June, 2005 | 07:34PM BST
Dear all,
Today you have made it very clear to us that our previous decision to allow the sale of LIVE 8 tickets on eBay.co.uk was not one that the vast majority of you agreed with. As a result of this clear signal from the Community we have decided to prohibit the resale of LIVE 8 tickets on the site.
Although the resale of tickets is not illegal, we think that this is absolutely the right thing to do. We have listened to the views you expressed on the discussion boards and in the many emails you have sent to us. We shall be working over the next few hours to remove all LIVE 8 ticket listings from the site.
Thanks for taking the time to contact us and make your views heard,
Regards,
Doug McCallum

Good!
Made ITV News tonight at 6.30, so obviously something struck a core with the nation.
Even had Bob Geldof on saying that all hackers should get into ebay and shut it down for allowing the sales!Money saving:
Buy a Skoda. Laugh at the VWs who paid several grand more
Its a diesel. 50mpg - laugh at all the petrols
Its a tuned 260bhp diesel - laugh at them in the rearview mirror as they vanish

'I think we are not addressing the correct problem or issue.
If these 'artists' (i use the term loosely) allowed a percentage of their royalties to be distributed to these countries I would be more happier than people seeing the Ebay selling problem being addressed.
The money these people are making by selling on Ebay does not even compare to a small fraction what could be donated by these 'artists'.
The least important issue is being addressed - lets make the 'artists' contribute more!!!'
How about Elton John contributing some of his flowers that he likes to buy! Was it £240,000 he spent in one year on flowers?
On a serious note why don't the record companies/artists contribute all CD/DVD/Record sales' profits in July? As with Live Aid in 85 every artists' sales went through the roof and it is highly likely after the concert this time round, it will happen again. I am sure the answer will be we are not raising money for charity, just raising 'awareness'.

I Dont see the point of the concert this time

The last time it was done, there was more effort and more precice reasons for it. There was a clear goal...to raise money.
This time, it seems to be a bit "all over the place". No-one know what they are they trying to achieve exactly.
Its not money...I dont think ! The last lot of money was wasted in civil war and corruption. Nothing was spent on the problems that the money was raised for.
One minute its a concert...then boating to france to pick up frenchies ?? Not to mention Bob asking a million people to converge at the G8 summit.
Imagine the chaos that would create !
I dont know what they are trying to do this time
robIf only everything in life was as reliable...AS ME !!
