Any recommendations for a quality can opener? Fed up with bits falling off or going blunt.

Can't remember the last time I used my can opener - tins all seem to have ring pulls now!
If it's any help, Lakeland Ltd will probably have a good selection.1 -
Had one of these for years.

I prefer the type that cuts into the can, not one that leaves a sharp edge, I run my finger around the edge and if it's ok the dog enjoys licking the tin.daveyjp said:Had one of these for years.

I do find a lot of openers break, don't like the ring pulls.
I bought a five year guarantee one from Asda, previously using a simple £1 one.0 -
Hi
We've had one of these for years - even I've managed to use it but are most cans are ring pull other than a few specialist foods of the continental tye we buy

We got tired of them falling apart, no matter which style we bought. So bought an electric one several years ago and haven't had any issues since. It doesn't get used that much but neither did the manual ones before falling apart.0

I've had an M&S one for 6-7 years now, remember previously I used to just buy the supermarket ones and they would last a few years and the moving part were just made of a soft metal, or with a plastic bush, or some weak point engineered into it so it would fail in a few years. I have tried loads since and finally found a good quality one from M&S.
It's difficult to find one thats well made, sometimes looking at the price of the item holds no bearing as they might have just stuck some fancy handles onto a crap mechanism and increased the price, they will still last as long as the other crap ones except they look better!0 -
