Good morning, we have a light covering of snow here, as forecast.
Nothing much planned today, i might make the mince pies I was talking about yesterday. We ended up going to a shopping centre yesterday and I bought a new iron, not very exciting I know
I am going to go to the supermarket today, there's a Morries nearby. I couldn't face the big Sains at the shopping centre yesterday., it was absolutely packed and i don't want much.
Hope everyone has a good day anyway.
Take care folks.

Morning folks- thanks for starting us off Scarlet.Once home yesterday I got myself cosy and settled down. Then I got a phone call to help out my elderly neighbour and his wife so clambered back into my boots and drove up to see them. Luckily it didn't take much to help, they just needed some milk so it wasn't long before I was back home. Mind you, it wasn't nice being out in the icy sharp rain.I retired to bed to watch SCD, at least I kept one eye on it for the dances as all the puffy 'journey' bits are not for me. 😀Today the wind is raging outside but all seems clear and cold. Just like Scarlet I have no plans for today apart from re-wrapping a parcel ready to post tomorrow. This is the parcel which my cousin sent to me by mistake which needs to be sent onto his daughter. She has already posted off mine. 😀 Anyway, the wrapping paper is very tatty and ripped so that needs sorted out. I may have to go out to buy a large posting bag, I'm hoping I already have one tucked away. For now I hope that everyone is safe and warm. Happy Sunday to all.11

Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. Like you we have had another light covering and everywhere is sparkling in the moonlight, so it looks as though it's all now frozen solid again. What a hazardous week this has been, both for walking and driving.
My slothful day yesterday didn't happen! DS came in the morning to do a present and card swap and stayed quite a while. Then after lunch my DB and SIL came to do similar. They too stayed quite a while as we had much catching up to do. We do phone each other maybe every fortnight but there is quite a bit about his health hasn't been telling me and it's really worrying. He has various tests booked for this week so they have a stressful wait for the results of those.
On the whole I enjoyed the SCD final but, like GERS, the journeys and sob stories this season have really annoyed me. It's getting like the X Factor was!! Anyway I was happy with the winner as they have been my favourite couple since week one!
I have a few jobs lined up for this morning but hopefully will manage a slothful afternoon! I have just been catching up my Ocado order for tomorrow and what I thought was a small order has now escalated! But nothing frozen as I couldn't squash another thing in them. (NY resolution yet again will be to get stocks down in them!!)
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, fed up and MIA. Take care if you are venturing out and stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10 -
Morning All
Thanks for the start Scarlet, the supermarkets will only get worse! I went early yesterday and got stocked up, just some fresh food to get and then what we haven't got we'll do without!
I do, however, have to go for more lemons and butter today, made lemon curd as presents yesterday and managed to tip one load from the steaming bowl into the water below. I could have cried, I stood for ages stirring it and of course with the butter at an extortionate price it was a total waste.
This morning I've made oatie biscuits, one vegan batch for DD's family and another batch for DGS, it's just about the first thing he asks for when he comes so had better be a good Gran.
Sorry your DD is still not back in her house, you'll all muck in once your other DD is home, you must be very excited.
You're a good neighbour Gers, especially when you're not near any shops. I'm sure they were very grateful.
Happy new car Snoozer.
Hope you enjoyed the gymnastics display Izzy.
The tree is up but the star is too heavy for the top so will go and look for one when I'm out this morning. Had to celebrate so opened the Baileys so had better get another bottle of that too!
Have a very peaceful Sunday. Take extra care. XX

Morning all
Not quite as cold here today and its raining and meant to do so all day, I think a pyjama day might be good on such a wet dayI have got all the bits for the in-laws hamper so need to sit and wrap those today it wont take long and then I am done.
I have stripped the bed this morning and got the bedding in the wm, OH gets the job of re-making the bed up later.
Got to get my hospital bag ready for Tuesday im hoping to come out the same day but they said bring overnight things just in case I hope I can come home the same day as you dont get any rest in hospital, I need total silence and total darkness to be able to sleep and you get neither of those!!
Roast pork for dinner tonight so will prep that this morning, I have two clients coming tomorrow and then I am finished for a while.
Have good days all and take care xxx11 -
Morning all. Snow still on the ground; I had hoped it would be gone when I woke up today.
Yesterday was the first day for a while that we didn't light the stove so it must have been a fraction warmer. I feel so behind with things and will be really glad when I can get out and about without worrying about the weather.
We might wander up into town late morning as there's a Vintage tractor run arriving about midday. They will park up in one of the car parks that used to be a place selling agricultural machinery when we first moved here.
Other than that, I expect DH will want to watch the football and I need to do some practice for the Carols in the pub on Tuesday evening. Might make a few little cakes whilst the oven is on as we are looking after DGS one day next week.
Hope your Sunday goes well.11 -
Morning all, missed posting and reading for a few days, just seem to have been mad busy.We were like you TA, the small snowfall landing on top of the compressed snow/ice has frozen over and is now like glass.I took pooch across the road this morning & even with my yak trax on my boots it was lethal. On Friday I got a message from DGS mum, she forwarded it from school saying there had been a bad accident and the main road we would go up was closed. We set off early, taking a long detour and got there on time, going home a different story. Even longer detour and we got lost until by chance we spotted a sign for an old hall we go to sometimes then we were on the right track We found out later a man had lost his life, which made the traffic jams seem irrelevant
So sad.
We braved the football match yesterday, sooo cold sat there. I had bought myself some electronic hand warmers, needless to say when I showed the grandkids they swiftly ' borrowed' one eachWe met up with DB and family at half time, so we'll next see them on Xmas day. I've made some mince pies and frozen them. I need to check my food list and delivery order too.
Think we'll be having a picky tea as we'll be watching the world cup final this afternoon, but I will make apple/blackberry crumble.Took the fruit out of the freezer to free up some space, a friend gave me the apples which were cut up into chunks ready, the blackberries foraged from across the road.Dp1 Sorry your DD & little one have had such a scary experience - hope it's soon sorted.Wishing you all a good day, hugs to Poppy and Marie x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all, we've had some snow too but now it's undecided whether to snow, sleet or rain, at least it's a bit warmer though, it's not minus anything. Yesterday my plans changed after I'd marzipanned the cakes as DD called with 2 baskets of washing and then a third appeared later. The wm is on and DD will do a pick up later, luckily they have unearthed the TD in the garage so DD can dry everything herself, hopefully the kitchen will be usable by the end of Wed but the painting and wall tiles will wait till after xmas.
Today I want to make my royal icing, leave it overnight and then I will ice the cakes tomorrow. I'll probably watch some xmas movies and later I'll do a roast chicken, roasties and veg for tea.
Take care all, stay safe and warm.

Hi everyone,
We're late up this morning, Brian went to London for a party and didn't get back till after 2 and for some reason we were still awake. Esben was also asleep late because he fell asleep in the car for fifteen minutes. We went to a pottery painting place which was pretty good. Coming back though we were diverted because there was a parade of tractors going through the town, we passed 200 tractors all lit up with Christmas lights. It took us ages to get home which was a bit frustrating with the littlies in the car.
I managed a bit of sewing yesterday, It's getting there slowly but surely. I also made a delicious lamb tagine which we will have tomorrow night as well, tonight will be pork shoulder but not the full roast.

Morning..Paty was good though we didn't stay long, it was a lot posher then both of us thought and we were severely underdressed. We made it look bad
But it was good to see my friend who I don't see very often at all. Today I have plans to thoroughly clean the kitchen, make a roast pork dinner, also a shoulder snoozer, and wrap some presents. I have a load of brown paper from various packages which will be pressed into action for that and some kitchen string. OH wants to put his refelctive thing on the greenhouse glass but he's full of cold and I'm not far behind him so a trip to a pharmacy for some cold flu stuff is also on the cards. But some days I just don't want to do stuff, I want to quietly potter round the house and this is definitely one of those days.
Nels, hope they at least picked the damn thing up. Nanny, that's the way of with some people unfortunately. I think I'd rather be happy than murderously grumpy all the time. Happy icing making day Izzy, hope the gymnastics was fun! Scarlet, hope you had some non peopley shopping...Gers, hope you get to stay in the warm today! TA, just remember, resolutions are made ot be broken and it won't feel that badcamelot, I feel your pain, I know what it's like to do so much work for something and then muck it all irretrievably up just at the end..good luck today. Ruby, hope you have a restful weekend in advance. WL, your village sounds very lovely. Rosy, enjoy your day..snoozer, the tractors sound cool as...you anywhere near WL?
Take care all, it's going to be better o cuddle indoors than out...

Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child
Holy infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace
Silent night, holy night
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from Heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing hallelujah
Christ the Savior is born
Christ the Savior is born
Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht
Alles schläft; einsam wacht
Nur das traute hochheilige Paar.
Holder Knabe im lockigen Haar,
Schlaf in himmlischer Ruh!
Schlaf in himmlischer Ruh!
Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht,
Hirten erst kundgemacht
Durch der Engel Halleluja,
Tönt es laut von fern und nah:
Christ, der Retter ist da!
Christ, der Retter ist da!
