Insurance claim and length taken for it to be repaired

We hit a deer a month ago and made an insurance claim later that day. The car was taken away a week later to be fixed by the local repair centre and three weeks later they still have it with no eta on completion. Is this normal? The damage isn’t that extensive.

Thanks in advance.

They are not answering the phone despite lots of calls. I think they’ve taken on far too much work than they can cope with.

Apparently they ordered parts immediately after the accident so maybe they might be taking weeks to be delivered? It’s very frustrating.

Do you have a hire car.
If so I am surprised the insurance Co are allowing it.
Has your insurance company to intervene

If the parts are not there, there’s not much the insurer can do.

In the last couple of years? Yes. Its nothing to do with insurance but the challenges caused by parts shortages caused by Covid, shipping issues caused by Covid and importation challenges caused by Brexit

All manufactures are struggling to make cars, let alone produce parts for accidents. Many reports are into several months. I know of one Kia driver who had to wait over 6 months. (EV6)

In my case it has been two weeks from incident to having a repaired car back.

Incident 7 December.  Vehicle hit while parked.
Third party on scene and reported to the fleet management company.
Afternoon of 7th call from fleet management.
9 December body shop estimate sent to fleet manager
    12 December estimate agreed
    13 December bodyshop ordered parts
    19 December car dropped off
21 December car returned with one cosmetic part on back order
