CASS and debit card payments

The answer is no, the payee will have the debit card details of an account that has been closed and you will have to reinstate them yourself with the new card details.
But as you say, I can't find this being addressed anywhere on the CASS website.1 -
According to pay.uk, who are running the running the current account switch service, all payment requests against the old account will be forwarded to the new account for at least three years. However, the debit card for your old account is no longer valid, so the payment request might get rejected and never make it to your old account in the first place.
May be ask your question on the pay.uk Twitter account? https://twitter.com/WeArePayUK ?

It doesn't work unfortunately.Switched from Co-Op to Nationwide (November), and the recurring debit card payment I had to NowTV failed.2

The MSE article about CPAs states that they don't switch:
If you're switching your bank account, then the seven-day switch guarantee from the banks will take care of switching all your direct debits and standing orders over. However, it won't switch any continuous payment authorities you have – you'll have to do these yourself.
If you want to keep paying by CPA, simply call the retailer and tell them your new card details.

eskbanker said:Yes, I didn't actually quote OP but the original question was "will the recurring debit card payment get switched to the new bank, or will I have to change it manually?" while also stating that "this is something that isn't explicitly mentioned in anything I've read about the switch service".And I'm grateful to you for what you provided. It told me exactly what I wanted to know. Thanks to everyone, though, for your helpful comments. My curiosity is satisfied. This is clearly something that I ought to bear in mind if I do ever switch the account in question. Fortunately, it's not the end of the world if I do happen to forget it: the amount is small, and I've got a suitable backup payment method in place if the primary does fail.

Only time it would transfer over is if it was a authorisation at the time of the switch.
I know you did not mention this as such. But many seem to think that doing a switch, just like reporting a card lost/stolen will stop these payments & end the contract. They do not, the monies are still due. Some companies will chase the debt owed.Life in the slow lane0
