This hotel room is so snug and cosy though already my nose is getting stuffed up, a reminder of why I don't like such dry heat. Can't win!Yesterday I wimped out about going out in the evening as I was worried about ice. I made myself miserable by doing the internal arguments before my head won over my heart. This meant me staying put. Meanwhile the friends who I'd been with on Thursday decided to drive home as the worst of the snow had been cleared from the roads. The journey took them ages but the made it safely.Today I'm heading for breakfast, check out, collect my car, do some shopping and then home. Think I'll do a bigger shop than I'd planned as more horrendous weather is forecast from tomorrow on.DP1 - have workman been to start repairs for you and DD?
Nelski - how was your birthday?I hope that everyone is safe, well and warm. Happy SCD final Saturday.12 -
Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers, glad you enjoyed the panto but shame you couldn't get out last night, can't blame you it was horrid although I think it was more wet than icy here.
I've cleaned the living room and changed the furniture around to accommodate the tree although it's smaller than I usually buy so shouldn't be too bad to fit in. I probably wouldn't bother with it but the DGC love to see 'their' baubles on it.
It's been an interesting few days, Thursday it took me an hour and a half to travel 9 miles - there was an unstable verge along the main road so the dual carriageway was closed and all traffic had to go on a diversion. Those who left from this way after me had even bigger delays. Work was awful, no-one had bought the selection boxes for the children so a couple of us went out to get them, gave up our lunch break to get them all wrapped then Management decided that Santa wouldn't give them out. To say I was annoyed was an understatment!
Yesterday morning saw a deep covering of snow so I set off very early, would have gone on the train but there weren't any and the buses were struggling to get up the hills, made it before the Janitor had even opened the gates!
Popped out of work to see the little one in her Nativity, she was fabulous (as they all were) and it was very funny seeing all the 3 and 4 year olds doing their own thing. I don't think I could work in a nursery, it must be like hearding cats!
Sorry to hear of your DD's troubles dp1, hope they get everything sorted very soon.
Off to do some shopping in a while before it gets busy, I have a list! Later it will be decorating the tree and some more cleaning and tidying.
Have a good weekend everyone, take care. XX11 -

Morning folks and thanks GERS. You take care driving home, have a safe journey. We had a light covering of snow through the night and sleet is forecast today before snow tomorrow. Then the warmer temps are due tomorrow night. What a week this has been for us all weatherwise!
I'm not bothering with my little trip into town this morning there is nothing I need. I'll stay home, keep warm and maybe have a slothful day! I'll see what delights the tv has to offer before the SCD final tonight. Plenty of Christmas films are commandeering all the channels but I'm not bothered for watching that sort of film.
How's it going DP1, I hope everything is getting fixed/sorted and you can all look forward to an uneventful Christmas. CAMELOT what a miserable lot your Management are but glad you enjoyed the Nativity. I miss those days, it seems a long time since the DGDs were little and I sat through their performances tissue at the ready!
Have a good day folks if you can. ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, fed up and MIA. Take care all, keep warm and safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Hi everyone,
I just thought I'd check in while Esben is watching people unwrap toys on Youtube (adults not kids - who knew that was a thing). Esther is fast asleep after a very fraught evening and early hours, I hope she was ok for Laura later.
I need to get on with making Christmas stockings for those two and Nate, I've done 3 fronts and a back so far but it's been difficult to carve out the time. I thought I'd have time yesterday afternoon because L, B and the kids went to Whipsnade Zoo to see Santa. Apparently it was magical in the snow and they were allowed to take the car in for free. However, instead of sewing we went and bought a new car. I've not been happy with the one we have now and we've reverted to our previous make (they sent us an offer that made sense), so we'll get that at the beginning of January.
Have a good day and keep warm.10 -
Morning all..Comedians for the most part good, Dylan Moran, very very funny, but then, I've liked him since I first saw him. And he's ageing well, at least in the way that he's still funny to someone his own age and not twilring the banner of lost youth and relevance. Today I plan to do a big fat nothing. Probably won't work out that way but I feel like a break so I'll get my bottle of Baileys ready, my monogrammed glass [ present from father] , my selection of Christmas films, and go for it [ Die Hard, Predator, Aliens etc, you know the type..
I'll be drunk and asleep by four...Just realised, can't, have a birthday bash to go to tonight...Harrumph.
Camelot, maybe you should get a massive banner made, Under New Management and stick it across the school so parents know what they'll be getting for thei children from now on. Bella, happy tree making. Scarlet, enjoy your nothing ventured, nothing gained day, sometimes you just have to do nothing...Gers, don't worry yourself sily next time, just flip a coin, works for me, because if i don't like the answer, I know I want to do the other thing...snoozer, bit of an about turn there! But the power of a new car can't be ignored, so happy stocking making today! Nanny, you should have belted it out, having fun is the main reason to sing, not worrying about what people think...did your father ever tell you about the smoking mountain, or did you ever see it? I was just outside Mountain Ash on the way to Abercynon..A coal seam caught fire and the mountain [ or really, very big hill] gently puffed away for years at the side of the road. Right, no more wafflem, enjoy your days all, do something you like for a change...shout to the poorlies...。❅*⋆⍋*∞*。*∞*⍋⋆*❅。
Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus
Riding down Santa Claus Lane
Vixen, Blitzen, all of his reindeer
Pulling on the reins
Bells are ringing, children singing
All is merry and bright
Hang your stockings and say a prayer
'Cause Santa Claus comes tonight
Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus
Riding down Santa Claus Lane

Morning
Thanks again for birthday wishes yesterday
Had a perfect for me day. Had a takeaway Chinese/ chippy as ever I overestimated how much I eat which isn't a lot so loads of leftovers for today and probably tomorrow
Today is hopefully the last day of ice. Cracking through some washing but running out of space to dry it now so will leave it till Monday. AO are coming back to pick up my old machine this afternoon. I have paid for this but they had had a good go to get out of it ....bunch of cowboys!!
Hope you all have a lovely Mad Saturday11 -
Hello all, not a lot going on here today except starting to marzipan the cakes. Then it'll be tools down, sitting and doing a big fat nothing 😁 That's my intention but I expect something will turn up and scupper the plans !
taff don't think he told me that story but there again he's told me lots over the years, after all he is 93 so he has many. Sadly most contain hard times because he doesn't remember (or want to) any good times 😟 Enjoy the birthday bash.
Bella all Mr Fix It's family are diabetics, him included. I hope your DH can get on board with it.
Snoozer hope you get on better with your new car.
Gers safe journey home.
Camalot Bah Humbug to your management !
Scarlet and TA snap to having a quiet day in 😊
Take care all, stay safe and warm. Hugs to the poorlies and anyone in need.
