Bosch fridge freezer extended warranty

We've just got a new fridge freezer, 2 year warranty. For £99 one-off we can extend that for a further 3 years.
I've always considered extended warranties to be a waste of money - but we've had such a rubbish time with our old fridge freezer, and this seems like a reasonable price.
What do others think? Worth it or not?

We had an lg American fridge freezer and it had issues which they sorted but washed their hands of after the 2 year warranty expired
we ended up making a claim under consumer law, they offered us £100, we rejected, they required an engineer report. We got one, they ended up refunding us about £950 of the £1200 purchase price. We got a Samsung one with a 5 year warranty in the end
£99 is £4 a month so have a lol at what other cover you can get the may cover a few appliances and weigh it up, otherwise you could go down the same route as us but it wasn't without chew and for £99 may be worth the peace of mind

Completely unnecessary: modern white goods are very reliable, and Bosch is a decent mid-range brand.
If this is a retailer driven offer from DSG/D&G, then you can usually buy it direct for half the price, so if you really want it, buy it direct in 2 years time for maybe £50.
DSG make more profit from inflated-price extended warranties than they do from sales.
No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Thanks all. I think I'm just worried because our last one was so poor.
The warranty offer is from Bosch themselves, which is why I was considering it. But it's true they're a decent brand, and I may well be able to buy it once the 2 year one is up. And I've no idea what the t&c are, which is a crazy way to buy anything.
So I reckon I'll leave it. Once again, thank you all.1 -
It won't be from Bosch, they're just fronting it, same way that DSG would. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

OP - we take out warranties on everything - did not need to action the 5yr warranty on a flagship Sony tv bought 8/9 years ago broke down recently and we changed ot OLED and got a free 5 year warranty on the sony 75 inches
washing maches everyone we have had broken down twice within 5 years and we look after our dtuff
We made a mistake years ago not taking out a 5 yr warranty on a condenser drier it broke down after three years we got a new one with 5 year warranty.
We get a warranty for a peace of mind - so go for the 99 quid and hope you never have a problem but the assurance should it go wrong within 5 years, you won't get turned over by a cowboy repair person
Thanks and enjoy your weekend0 -

This has served me well as had numerous free repairs of goods and like DIY above, we take care of our goods. I have little faith in longevity of consumer goods these days, and when we took a risk on the 2 years on the LG fridge we nearly got burned0
