Cat treats! Cost!

I'm not one to give Dinner The Wondercat branded treats but I did notice Hi-Life Chicken breasts treats - 100% natural and - get ready - £180 a kilo!
Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!

You could buy your cat a lot of fillet steak for that

They're freeze dried chicken and nothing else, so they weigh considerably less than a chicken breast as all the moisture is taken out of them. A portion of them only weighs a few grams. My cats go mad for freeze dried chicken, but we tend to go for the 200g tubs of Cosma Snackies (XXL only for my fussy mogs) which are much more reasonable at about £80 per kilo (or £17 ish a tub). A tub will last a month, and I know they're getting chicken and only chicken, not random grains and sugars. That makes it worth it for me.0

Ours loves the similar Thrive freeze dried breast but they last a decent amount of time. We bought a 200g tub 4 months ago for £17 and we are not even half way though them.1

I've found Thrive to be inconsistent - they use two different manufacturers for both their food and treats, and my cats can tell the difference and only like half of them! I did buy them for over a year, but got frustrated never knowing which product I'd end up getting.maisie_cat said:Ours loves the similar Thrive freeze dried breast but they last a decent amount of time. DtWC (Dinner The Wonder Cat) likes steamed salmon, steamed haddock, baked chicken, jalfrezi sauce (really!) so they are his 'treats'. Much better price - and far, far less packaging! Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!0

The freeze dried treats I buy are in recyclable packaging, whereas most meat is packaged in plastic. The quantity by weight is probably at least as reasonable as the others you list, though I guess you offer the above while you are eating them!
Also - jalfrezi sauce could actually do your cat significant internal damage. Onion and garlic for starters. I sincerely hope that you are joking with that one and if not, please stop giving your cat this and do some reading about what is and isn't safe to give your cat.

Oh he only had a tiny taster, it’s not part of his diet. I know garlic isn’t good. Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!0

Brexit (the cat) eats (fortified & complete) chicken breast for lunch every day. If I tried to give it to him as a treat, he'd wonder why I was giving him more lunch. It's absolutely fine if you don't want to buy freeze dried treats for your cats, but there's little to gain from trying to shame those who do! I know they're expensive, I'm fine with that.RobM99 said:DtWC (Dinner The Wonder Cat) likes steamed salmon, steamed haddock, baked chicken, jalfrezi sauce (really!) so they are his 'treats'. Please don't give your cat curry sauce though, vets bills are even more expensive than luxury treats.0 -
We go for the shop bought treats (dreamies). We have a glass jar we mix several different packs (hairball, dental, dreamies) in.Each weekday at 12:30 we give a few to each cat that comes on 3 whistles. (More so our rescue will come running if he climbs out the garden). Our older boy doesn't eat wet / freeze-dried food of any type for some reason.May you find your sister soon Helli.

Can we start a thread please on the most fun/amusing/interesting names that people have given their cats?
I vote for Dinner The Wonder Cat
