Lidl warranty

Hi,
I bought a power tool from lidl which failed, I was put in touch with the manufacturer who replaced the item, now the replacement has failed with the same issue, when contacting the manufacturer they said that they can't look at the 2nd item because the warranty on the 1st item has expired, this item came with a 3 year warranty, I've been back to lidl but so far their ignoring my emails, any advice would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks
Colin

  • Hello OP

So does that mean the purchase was over 3 years ago?

If not how long ago did you purchase and how much was paid for the item?

Has it been more than three years since the initial purchase?

If so they are correct the warranty has expired.

The warranty does not start a new 3 year term for the replacement item, it's 3 years from the purchase of the first item. When did you purchase it?
Who is offering the 3 year warranty, Lidl or the manufacturer? Different things entirely.

  • It's normal for warranties to expire on the anniversary of the original purchase.  Not many manufacturers or retailers are going to offer a new-for-old-for-life policy, the liability would be ridiculous.
  • As others have said, if the 3 year warranty on the original purchase has expired then that's it - game over.

The clock doesn't start ticking again with another 3 years when you get a replacement under warranty.
