Morning everyone
Just been having a catch up. DD and little one got home from the hospital on Tuesday night - she's eating again and is going to the loo so doesn't need the milk feeds any longer so that's good. She totally just took it all in her stride as usual - going to Butlins and ending up in hospital for a few days.
When they got home the heating, which DD had left on low, had gone off and the house was freezing - couldn't get back up the hill to my house as it was too icy - so she put the heating on and they went to bed with hot water bottles. Just after 3 on Wednesday morning my phone rang and she was hysterical, crying and saying she didn't know what to do - I thought something terrible had happened to little one. The pipes had burst, all the water gushing through into little ones bedroom and bringing most of the ceiling down then through into the kitchen. Luckily it just missed little one but she was terrified, the house was black dark and the smoke alarm going off. I rang 999 and the loveliest lady said she'd send police and a fire engine to help. DD wrapped little one in a blanket and they waited outside in the car. They arrived in about 10 minutes and helped DD find little ones bag of medication that goes everywhere with her - Little one was really impressed by the lamps on their helmets! Landlord arrived and they both came up to stay here.
It has really frightened little one - she kept asking yesterday if my ceiling would fall down. Luckily DD rents her house from her half sister and her husband - and they have been brilliant - they have humidifiers in drying the carpets and builders in today fixing the hole and have said it won't be long before they get back in. Little one is going to need a lot of reassurance to sleep back in bedroom though. She did however have two lovely sessions out in the snow yesterday, which she loved.
Then this morning I got up and my heating has stopped working! DD has taken little one to her aunties and I'm on the sofa with my dressing gown on on top of my clothes, a blanket, a hot water bottle and a cat! Hopefully it will be fixed today - little one's disability makes it a priority but the man on the phone said they have masses of heating jobs to do. My mam and dad's heating is also broken but they do have a gas fire in their living room - there's will hopefully be sorted tomorrow.
So that's my news! Hope everyone else is having a better time x9 -
Hello all, I'm bringing up the rear today. I decided to go to an OOT shopping centre to finish off the presents this morning and we had to crawl along the side roads until we hit the main one because of the ice. There aren't many shops there but I got what I wanted and went for a coffee in Cost*. Mr Fix It had to buy more de-icer as he couldn't find ours, I think it's in one of the outside sheds as we emptied the car when it went to be fixed and the stuff hasn't been put back in. I posted the neighbours cards when I came home as the sun was on the steps, so there was no chance of me falling because of ice, my balance is another story.
This afternoon I shall pack the last of the presents, I thought I finished yesterday 🙄 then I only need some biscuits/chocs for Dad which I'll get when I do my xmas food shopping next week.
Tonight I am going to watch DGD singing in Carols by Candelight at the local Lighthouse church. I'm looking forward to that as I love the combination of children, carols and Christmas. DD will pick me up although we could walk there if necessary as it's only 2 streets away.
dp1 Oh my goodness what a shock for your DD and DGD ! I hope things get sorted asap and they are back in their own house. Just how much more can a family take ? Hugs to you all. 🧡
Scarlett I hadn't noticed the date until it was pointed out. Hope you get your money sorted soon.
Take care all, stay safe and warm.
