ages ago (2009/10 maybe) there was a challenge thread that ran on for pages and pages. one of the recipes used weatabix nockoffs to make a fruit cake in place of flour (it was really dense more like a loaf but lovely with some butter).

ive a pack of wheat biscs from the back of the cuboard that have a bit of a stale taste (more than a year out of date) so i was looking for a way to use them.

anyone have the recipue i'm thinking of or any other ideas how i can use them up? :)

yes. but there are some dodgy recipes online so if anyone has any tried and tested ways then it would be nice to hear from people :)

In the past I have crushed them added a couple of spoons of sugar and used as a crumble topping on stewed apricots.

With a cost of living crisis, generic Weetabix is going to be my go-to storecupboard snack if I am ever hungry and the fridge is empty.

i think thats' why we had them originally. at one point i made yogurt in a flask and any odd bits of fruit with a spoon of tart yogurt and a crumbled up wheat biscuit or 2 fills a nice hole :)

these just taste a bit cubordy if you know what i mean so need a bit of a stronger masking taste and theres only so much cake we can eat!

    Really?
I have found some really great recipes online- given up looking in recipe books because I can find what I want with a quick google.

I think chocolate would hide the stale taste

I suggest you start a new thread with Weetabix in the title because then you are more likely to get ideas. This one has bran in the title after all
