I can manage with living room at 17.5C in the evening when I'm under my heated throw. Other rooms we use are a bit cooler, maybe 16C, TRVs on 2.5. Unused rooms, TRVs are on 1.5.

Only for last few days, with the freezing temperatures, we have set a minimum of 15C overnight. Usually the house wouldn't get that cold but downstairs was dropping to 13.5C and taking ages to get up to temp. in the morning

NannaH  "Living room is 19.5°"  is that with leaving heating on all day and night?
Alnat1    think ill leave heating on overnight at 14 degrees to see. Mine struggles.
New boiler so its worth spending to test it.
Interesting to see how it all goes with change of weather next week. Maybe increase in wind speed and rain makes my testing all down the drain.

    Those log fires look good.
I think problem is me thinking gas central heating can get that sort of temperature in this cold snap. Living room still 17 degrees . 15 degrees on floor
What is the flow temp and are the rads new?

These cold temps are not normal so the living room storage heater has lost its charge and the room is currently 15.8C. Got the dehumidifier on to maintain that temperature. My feet are toasty in my footwarmer and have plenty of layers on and my woolly hat. I'll be off to bed soon where it is currently 10.5C which will get a ten min blast with the fan heater to take it to 13C. The bedroom storage heater will begin its charge at 12:37am. My bedroom is normally 14C at this time of day on a typical winter's day.

A properly specified system should be able to. In the UK they are usually designed to do so at  -2C (or lower if you are in an area that expects to regularly get lower), how cold has it been where you are & how insulated/draughty is your building?
It is normal for the air to be coolest at the floor, what type of floor construction & flooring do you have?

nivag said: After 3 pm, we light the log fire and get to 20/21 in the living room, 17 in the rest of the house. Overnight it drops to about 15.
Highest recorded temperature I've had with the stove lit was 25.4°C (Feb 13th 2021). 20-22°C is more typical though.
Just with CH, 18-19°C is achievable when the hallway is set for 18°C (where the thermostat is located). Also seem to be doing better than some for heat loss. Only dropping 1.5-2°C overnight even with subzero temperatures outside.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.
  • 1930s semi here, doesn't seem to be that well insulated. Living room in the morning is 8 degrees, kitchen is 4! Try to avoid having the GCH too much, wear layers in the day then 3 or 4 logs in the evening whilst watching a film. Gets up to maybe 10 during the day then 14 with the logs going. Use 30kw gas/day.

    Roll on summer!
  • 1870's mid terraced with not very heat generous neighbours & we have no other heating apart for the log burner.
Today the fire was burning from 6-7:30am which gave enough heat until the sunshine heating kicked in, a pleasant 19.5c at 1 & 2m height & 16.5c at floor level as i type , it would be warmer in the lounge if we weren't pushing as much heat as possible to the cooler parts of the house, should be 3pm before we think about relighting.
Cold overcast days are a different story of course as the stove needs feeding more.

20-21oC 24/7 running our ASHP constantly at the lowest temp possible to keep it that way no thermostat restrictions just the weather compensation curve to even things out as it gets colder or warmer.

So far the test is going well based on others usage with Air Source Heat Pump systems
