4x6 Thermal Postage Label Printers

I am looking to buy my first label printer and I have no idea where to start, if anyone can offer recommendations based on their personal experience of using one I would really appreciate it.

I use the Zebra GK420d bought via an RM deal about 6 or so years ago and for which RM supply all the labels free of charge.

  • So bear in mind I'm a private seller on eBay, just selling bits and pieces ere and there. However, I got sick of the address label printing, then using lots of tape to completely cover it in case the paper got wet etc! Hence decided to move to a thermal label printer instead, which are much easier to use, look more professional, and do not smear/smudge if they get wet!!

First I picked up a Aobio Q5, which works really well, but I didnt like the way the labels sit open behind it. It took up a little more space then I was after, and over time I felt I was having to wipe any dust off of teh heads that got carried in with the open labels behind it....

So I sold it and picked up an enclosed unit, where the roll actually sits inside the printer.

In the end I settled with the FreeX unit, since not only is everything internal, it also has wifi connectivity. This means if Im somewhere else in the house and I make a sale, I can just print off a label and when I return to my desk it'll be sitting there waiting to go on the package.....

Deffo recommend the FreeX whether its used wired or wireless - have had it over a year no and no issues at all!

I've thought about one but instead I use the A5 sized "Document Enclosed" clear sticky wallets. If you print the postage labels in A4 landscape and fold them in half they fit perfectly. Plus I can also slide the packing slip in behind them. Fully protected from rain etc.
