I tried Tesco's bakery puff pastry mince pies and I was surprised how nice they are.jacko220 said:Morrison's Puff Pastry Mince Pies for me but I have to travel across town to get them.No man is worth crawling on this earth.

I have thought about buying the different ones and doing a review, I love mince pies.
I prefer the thin baked in store ones.1 -
I did a big review last year roping in some of the pensioners in our sheltered housing
I found in general terms that the artisan pies from bakeries were very good but expensiveThe supermarket top ranges were good but most people didn’t think there was much of a difference between the supermarkets. I’ve found that in other years as well
The budget ranges didn’t go down very well with anyone
The clear winner was (drum roll)
Home made. Especially if the mincemeat was home made. We’re having a party tonight, my home made mince pies have been requested.

I don't have a sweet tooth and don't like pastry much so mince pies aren't my thing. Hubby bought some deluxe ginger mince pies from Lidl to test and they were quite nice.1

Do you mean the ones from the instore bakery? I bought a pack yesterday and was surprised by how nice they were (and not a bad price at £1.25 for six). They had hundreds of packs, mostly dated 23 December (but some dated 25 December at the back) so expect some reductions!jacko220 said:Morrison's Puff Pastry Mince Pies for me but I have to travel across town to get them.

Has anyone tried the Costco (Kirkland) ones with the cakey type of top? Hard to describe but it's something like an almond slice kind of taste/texture. We love them, but they're quite big, so we just eat a half each. They freeze well too.0

My most recent experience of shortcrust pastry baked in store, seemed under cooked. I usually like them.TheBanker said:
