You chose to do that though, and you don't get compo for throwing your toys out of the pram.1 -
They didn't give you a £19k bill.
They said "if you actually use the amount that we are estimating you will use, then it will cost you £19k".
You're not using the amount they estimated, so you were never going to pay that amount.0 -
Coming off DD to pay monthly or quarterly on billing is just increasing your annual spend. How does that benefit you?
No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I've posted a question today about their supposed estimated charges going forward . basically they are increasing my d/d 3 fold although I'm on fixed tariff for reminder of contract . they have refused to give me their estimated breakdown for rest of contract but are saying my anticipated unit consumption has gone up ; it hasn't . For example November they estimate I will use 6000kwh but November has gone and I gave them a reading at beginning and end and this was 1000kwh which they've used to calculate my November account which was the same as last year ( unsurprisingly with a fixed tariff in place ) . So why are they using historic figures as estimate when they have actual ; I think to raise money ?
topically it would be like today OVO estimating the World Cup 1/4 final result ; England 8 France 1 ; well we know that isn't the result ! well done OVO !1 -

Because our DD was based on the last 12 months usage which was alot higher than it is now and also 3 false bills in the last months saying we have used alot more than we have .
It gives us control back to how much we want to pay as we use it EVEN if it is at a SLIGHTLY higher rate than DD .
Once they sort it out i will again look at going back to DD but seeing as OVO dont do variable direct debit i think this is me done with them and i will hop over to a new company .
Personally think we are due around £150 back working it out maybe more as it was correctly done in early Sept and a £50 goodwill gesture wouldnt go amiss in our account to try and keep our custom .They have made a massive hash of this at the worst time and we were worried of how are we going to keep warm in the next few months .0 -

Well, enjoy paying 10% more and good luck in your search for compo.1

at the end of the year will they agreed to their mistake and refund you say £10000 ! I however don't have spare £10000 to fund
Ovo's day to day running costs : At least two of the reply contributors clearly do judging by their responses !!

Hi,
Right the latest bill as my metered useage was around 76 for gas and we got charged around £230 ish and the Kwh was correct .
But i still have real irritating questions why just before entering my reading was our credit £660 pounds our total bill came to around £330 for gas and electric and £230 of that was the gas bill . So that should coincidently halve our credit before we add to it .But it went to £270 and i have no explanation of this at all .Its as if their software is having a brain warp and doing what it wants .
Furthermore to the previous 2 bills being wrong before this latest one they have not contacted me or rectified the situation with a refund to my account . I have rung them up and the first line of enquiry passes me through to accounts who then cant explain it but says it flagged it was flagged over a month ago now . I cant get through at all via phone or various emails latest one went to their compaints email and i headlined it FORMAL COMPLAINT before contacting OFGEM and Mr Lewis TV programme . Still i have had nothing at all , yet the latest bill was correct .
Can someone now explain what i can do next as im hitting an ostrich with its head in the sand .What is the formal complaint procedure seeing as i have already sent an email headlined as such to their complaints email address . Do i now take this to ofgem.0 -

By all means complain. You then may have to wait for 8 weeks before you can escalate your complaint to The Energy Ombudsman Service - a private arbitration company. OfGem does not deal with consumer complaints.0
