Wonderful! Thanks all - I will submit this evening and update the thread when I have some news.0

Sorry, some final questions about process -
Am I correct in thinking I should send my defence via email, to this address: ccbcaq@hmcts.gsi.gov.uk? With the defence attached as a file? Is pdf the best format to use?
Also, the claim number is at the top of the document so presumably no need for a covering email or even an email subject..?
And finally, presumably I need to physically sign and date the document, and scan it to pdf? Is that right?
Thanks!0 -
No. Send it where the Template Defence says.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hello again,
So defence has been submitted and I've had the acknowledgment from CCBCAQ.
Today I received a further email from CCBCAQ stating that they had "processed my defence and counterclaim" and asking me to pay a (smallish) counterclaim fee.
I wasn't sure what the counterclaim fee was for - does it relate to the para towards the end of the template defence that starts "in the matter of costs, the Defendant asks......."? Are costs a counterclaim? Or perhaps I made a mistake at the MCOL acknowledgment of service stage?
I did a search on the forum and found the post below where coupon-mad and others suggest the OP shouldn't have paid the fee - so I suspect I should probably ignore the fee request (for 10 days) and allow the counterclaim to be removed automatically from the case. But grateful for any advice, thanks.

Hello again,
So, having filed my defence and directions questionnaire, I have today received my small claims court date and request for court documents. Court date is set for 7 August at my local court, the date for documents to the court and claimant is 2 June.
I will get cracking with my witness statement this week but I have a significant problem - I'm going to be abroad with my family on 7 August and will not be able to attend court. The notes on the letter state that if I cannot attend the hearing I must write and tell the court "at least 7 days before the date of the hearing", and that "the district judge will hear the case in [my] absence, but will take account of [my] statement of case and any other documents [I] have filed". There's no mention of a process to delay or move the court date, as far as I can make out.
Grateful for any advice on how to proceed please - should I simply go ahead and submit my evidence, then let the court know I won't be attending? Would this harm my chances and if so is there an option to send someone else in my place? Or alternatively is it possible to move the assigned date?
Thanks

Nope. No-one can attend in your place. You cannot move the date either.
Say nothing for now. DCBLegal will discontinue long before.
You should have emailed the local court your holiday dates the minute you booked it.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
