  • Might be a daft question but I wonder just what the OP hit and what other damage may form part of this claim. Would really have to be going fast to do so much damage

Height restriction for a car park but its similar to https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6067215/hire-van-damage-help which was a low bridge and £10,000 3 years ago. Probably should ignore the suggestions to firebomb the damaged van.

Van roofs are fairly easily damaged and expensive to replace from my claims experience.

Don't want to start anything with the legal in's and outs, only that the rental agreement will almost certainly be written to "industry standards" which would likely stand up in court.
Enterprise are a member of the BVRLA so they would have to operate within their standards, but there is nothing stopping you taking legal advise.

You might stand a chance of getting the £13k reevaluated.
You could open a dispute BVRLA and dispute their valuation.

Probably the soundest advice is to also contact a debt charity, if you're unlikely to win a case over being reckless/responsible, at least try and reduce the effect the debt will have on you.

  • In the opening post the OP said he does not have this kind of money and is unlikely to have it, so as this is going to plunge him into significant debt I would recommend he talks to one of the debt charities such as step change.

Your link is incorrect, that is a firm that will facilitate an IVA (last resort). Step Change are at https://www.stepchange.org/
Rats, not sure how I did that.
