"Estimated ink levels" way, way off...

    I only change the cartridge when it runs out,. - remember the manufacturer is in the business of selling Ink so it does not matter to them

    Try a deep head clean on an inktank printer and it can use more ink than a standard cartridge holds.  Mine holds almost 70ml of ink.

    Did the test page and one colour was barely visible so did a head clean which actually made it worse.  Topped up the tanks to
    the max just in case even though the levels were around the 3/4 mark.

    Did a full deep clean and it used approx 15ml of ink.

    If you seriously go for long periods of time without printing (and its almost always black and white) you'd do better with a little mono laser.  This uses powder to print with and doesn't "dry up", because its already dry :)
    That's exactly what I have done.  Benefits include printing being possible almost immediately after switching the printer on (no waiting for head cleaning or other processes an inkjet goes through); no blocked heads and smeared print, cartridges which will print 100s of pages; cost per page far lower than inkjet.
