New driveway, type recommendations?

I have a 20m x 2.5m tarmac drive. It is "reasonable" condition given its age (requires a few patches), but I need to replace an adjacent fence which means digging up the existing posts, so consequently I am looking at renewing the drive at the same time. The biggest bugbear I have with the tarmac, is that it is prone for moss growth (drive is between two tall gable ends and does not get much direct sun light and never really dries out in winter/spring months.) It seems to attract black grit which may be washed off the house roof or just some kind of moss spores?
Any suggestions as to the best material to use? I park my car on the drive up to a set of gates, but after the gates (10m) I have never used the car on it. Can you get a smooth finish tarmac which make moss removal easier? TIA

I love black tarmac drives but I see your probs
We have block paved and northish facing, see green patches during winters
So, we use Patio Magic - its Magic by name and magic by nature - read up on it if you wish I'd personally give it 11 out of 10
Patio Magic can be used on various surchecs to we have concrete paths to the rear garden on used on those next to the fence as in winter parts start going green
Read up and decide if you want to try it on this or next drive. - it carrys on working and see results from abotut day 2 and it keeps on getting better.
Good luck2
