Average Room Temperature 10 Degrees

Hi. Just want to ask what is the average room temperature when the heating is off? Atm, ours is around 10-11 degrees and I feel that it’s a bit cold. We have to switch on the heating during the day when WFH and as you all know it’s getting a bit costly. Just wondering of this is normal. I just noticed it this week actually. Below are some details of our house:
2-bedroom new build (2 years)
end terrace
no carpet flooring (upstairs, down, even on the stairs no carpet at all)
we have a window on the the stairwell since we’re end terrace
Thanks!

What temperature do you heat it to in the evening? Lets guess 18 degrees?
So you are saying in a few hours when the heating goes off it drops from 18 to 10 degrees.
Shocking for a 2 year old house.
Yet more evidence that a lot of builders are taking the mick and still not building properly, taking every shortcut they can and turning out yet more lousy housing.
By way of comparison, my new self build, will drop about 1 degree in 24 hours if the heating goes off.2 -
That 1 degree is very impressive @ProDave.3 bed detached bungalow here, and it dropped 5 degrees in 11 hours Sunday night, with it being about - 2 outside. What it drops to, depends on how much I heat it to start with, but my thermostat is set to 14 degrees overnight, and it hasn't come on in the night yet.0

At 06:00 when the heating kicked in, it was at 16°C and it it -4°C outside - Late 1920s semi, so far from being the best performing building when it comes to heat loss.10°C for a new build is absolutely shocking. See if you can get a thermal imaging camera from somewhere and see where that heat is escaping. Then go kicking butts over at the developers.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.1 -
4 months of no heating from Sept-Jan 21/22 with a bedroom window open and maisonette dropped from low 20s (heating hadnt been on before we left) to 18C on our return with an outside temp at the time of -2C
Will typically drop 2C overnight if the Mrs has been at the controls in the evening. If she's been out then often there is 0.5C or less drop over night0 -
My end terrace new build dropped from 18C to 16.5C between 19:30 last night and 6:30 this morning. Without knowing the starting temperature and how long it takes to reach 10C it is all a bit meaningless though.
There is a point however when a very low heat loss level probably indicates that the property isn't being ventilated properly, unless there is a MVHR system installed (which I'm guessing ProDave has).0 -

We have a new build (June 2021) 3 bed semi, not dropping under 19 degrees. I WFH and have the heating up to 22 in the morning for an hour or so. After that, the temperature hovers around 19 - 20.0 -
Hey guys. Update. So I got so paranoid and checked all the windows, vents, rooms, evrywhere where the heat might be escaping. So I found that the window in the staircase is closed but not locked. I locked it now and closed the blinds. Also closed the bathroom door (we don’t close it since we don’t have window in the bathroom). Maybe the heating is escaping through the exhaust since the door is open all the time. I also closed all the blinds in all rooms. It’s been two hours now and the room temp is maintained at 15 degrees. No heating turned on. It’s a waiting game now if the temperature wil drop lower in the next few hours.0

How's your insulation up top? Do you have access to a loft space to look-see?1

Hi. Thank you for your comment. Yes, I just shut the bathroom door and switched off the exhaust just to check the heating today. We will open it later again.Another update: I didn’t realise that windows have vents, I thought it’s just the lounge doors. The one in our room where the thermostat is was open the whole time! I guess the whole two years that we’re living here we’ve been wasting heating. Okayyyyyy….But still checking and monitoring the heating…0
