Can you paste the contents of the email here? I didn't receive any emails! When did you top up? I'm so worried now....Eclipser said:
SSE Airtricity are also increasing their price in January, got an email the other day from them, something to do with a reduction in the government energy support scheme.
And finally - it looks like SSE Airtricity is the cheapest at the minute? Keypad discount at 17.020p/kWh
Did a top up on the same day I got the email and was issued the new longer code!!

I'm a bill pay customer, but I assume it's the same email. Bit in bold is where the relevant part starts.guli said:Can you paste the contents of the email here? I didn't receive any emails! When did you top up? I'm so worried now....Eclipser said:

UK Government energy support schemes informationDear Customer,We're working with the Government to deliver the Energy Bill Support Scheme (EBSS). This will provide a government support payment of £400 to domestic electricity customers. This will not need to be repaid. What do I need to do?Right now, you don't need to take any action. When full details of the scheme, including payment methods and timings, are confirmed we'll be updating our website with these details. Check our website below for the latest information.Find out moreEnergy Price Guarantee (EPG)Separately, you are currently receiving a discount of 19.9p/kWh on average for electricity. From January to March 2023, this unit price discount will be reduced to 13.6p/kWh on average. This discount is the same for all suppliers in Northern Ireland and will continue to automatically apply. EPG is in addition to the £400 support above.Thank you for being with SSE Airtricity.Kind regards,Customer Service TeamSSE Airtricity0 -
I'm planning to switch from El Ire before 01.01.23 too...are there any good switching deals on now or who's the cheapest supplier?,,,thnx0

I’ve got my switch in progress from EI to SSE at the moment, as they seemed to be the cheapest when I looked. None of them seem to disclose what their rates will be when the EPG is reduced but I reckon with the 17% discount, SSE should be around 21p a unit.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0

I'm also waiting for my switch to SSE Airtricity to happen - signed up on the 16th, but heard nothing since. @Money_Grabber13579 when did you apply (you should have got a welcome email the same day)?
I think that the above quote from @Mnoee might mean; we are reducing our price by X pence in January, but the saving will go back to the government by way of reducing their subsidy by X pence - the price you pay will not change. I think that this is the case with PowerNI, who explained it better.Certain OTT members have caused me to add this disclaimer: all advice given is free of charge & as such should be taken to be IIRC (as I don't spend hours researching all answers  )!0 -
I signed up on 29th Dec so a bit later than you. I did get the confirmation email and think I saw something about it possibly taking effect from 8 January. Haven’t had any further info though.jnm21 said:I'm also waiting for my switch to SSE Airtricity to happen - signed up on the 16th, but heard nothing since. @Money_Grabber13579 when did you apply (you should have got a welcome email the same day)?

I don’t think SSE are changing their standard rate at the moment (unlike Power NI who are reducing theirs) so the reduction in EPG discount would seem to mean SSE’s price will increase overall. Still think it’s cheaper than everyone else though.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j1 -
This is worth a look, especially the comparison of suppliers.https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-northern-ireland-640680380

I did not received notification of these price rises. My next bill is due at the end of the month, if there has been an increase without notification, I will be moving suppliers and will be challenaging the £40 exit fee.

It came by way of an email, rather than a letter (I think previous changes came by letter but not this time).mr._prude said:I did not received notification of these price rises. Thanks - I missed your reply - was not impressed with the process - they say they will text after 14 days, but you can call them too - waste of a lot of time - until you get the text, no point calling - mine took 25 days - they had the audacity to threaten me that if I cancelled after the 14 days, they would charge £40, which considering it was because they did not text after 14 days as promised, I literally laughed at them & told them I would love to hear a judge listening to their incompetence!Money_Grabber13579 said:

Seems that a 4 week wait is not unheard of & not switching until after the cooling off period is the norm/regulator approved - a complete joke where consumer law is designed to let consumers evaluate products & services - would be like a mail order company not shipping for 14 days & saying nope, cooling off expired, no returns.Certain OTT members have caused me to add this disclaimer: all advice given is free of charge & as such should be taken to be IIRC (as I don't spend hours researching all answers  )!0
