Changing tyres on lease car
Hello all. I have a Hyundai Ionic (20 plate) EV on a lease that is due to end in July 23. I realised today in the snow that I need to put some new tyres on. The original ones (unchanged in 2.5 years) are 205/60/R/16 whereas every online guide is suggesting 205/55/R/16 is the correct tyre. My head is saying that it makes sense to stick the same tyres on again but my wallet is wondering if the 55 will be ok - particularly when returning the car in a few months time. Thanks in advance.

There should be a sticker on the door frame with all the tyre pressures which will show all the correct tyre sizes for your car.3

Unless you buy snow tyres then you aren't going to get a dramatic improvement with new tyres.
How much thread depth is left? That is the proper way to decide whether you need new tyres?
What does the instruction manual say about your tyres sizes? Or the tyre info plate - usually on drivers door B post?
Either way I'd probably stick with what the manufacturer put on. Quick check of the forums and it appears to 60's are correct for the EV.
If you put the 55's on your speedo will over-read by about 3% and your odometer mileage will be up by 3% as well.

One of the joys of a three year lease is the high probability you will need to buy tyres, the other one will be the requirement to get an MOT before the lease expires (need to check when it was registered, it will have ben before your lease started).
