Is VAT on energy supplies only on usage amount

As usual the devil is in the detail0
-
Not really.
They said "we will give you £400". They are giving you £400.
Doesn't seem like a lot of detail in which to hide devils.1 -
I believe the word was we are giving you £400 to help with your energy costs, which means to me help with my standing charge and usage which would have reduced the vat also. No such luck. never mind 2 years will soon go.
It's so sad for some people on here who don't have a prayer of paying to keep warm

So you took "we are giving you £400" to mean "we are giving you £400 and we are also going to make sure that you don't pay VAT on anything that you happen to buy with this £400 such that is is actually worth more than £400 in total"?MikeJXE said:I believe the word was we are giving you £400 to help with your energy costs, which means to me help with my standing charge and usage which would have reduced the vat also. That sounds like you are inventing details just so you can find something to get angry about.2 -

They said they would give you £400, they are giving you £400, the fact that you choose to deliberately misunderstand does not change that.MikeJXE said:I believe the word was we are giving you £400 to help with your energy costs, which means to me help with my standing charge and usage which would have reduced the vat also. Being given £400 will help a lot, as does the EPG, as does the amounts reaching over a thousand pounds that some people have received. It might not be enough to keep everyone toasty warm, but it is better than nothing.MikeJXE said:It's so sad for some people on here who don't have a prayer of paying to keep warm
Deliberately misunderstanding is not knowing how things work.MikeJXE said:Lol I don't get angry I just like to know how things work1 -
Oh that’s easy then. It works by the government giving you £400. Nice and simple and straightforward, this one.MikeJXE said:Lol I don't get angry I just like to know how things work🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
